Happy Easter to everyone! Today there is a traditional Easter communion service at St James’s church on the hill, at 9.30am, led by Rev Robin Mann. The church will be decorated with Easter flowers and there's an Easter garden in the porch (near the swallows' nest!). There will be pen and paper activities for children, and during the sermon we’ll be showing the children a short video of the story of the first Easter using Lego stop-motion. We hope families will feel welcome. and it will be an inspiring occasion for all who come. You might just go home with a very small traditional Easter treat as well.😉

The Christmas Story trail is now in place, until dusk on Christmas Eve, around Winscombe village. We hope you enjoy following it with your families, in a window of weather between winds and showers! Head to 1 Well Close, next to the Bowling Club, to find the notice board with map and instructions. If you find any problems with the trail as you go round please let me know!

Important update! A number of families who have come to Messy Church in the past aren’t able to come on Saturday November 16th. So sadly we’ve decided to CANCEL this session due to the low numbers.

Important Message!! We were thinking of having Messy Church a week on Saturday: ie November 16th 2.30-4pm. However we’ve heard that some of our regular attenders are unable to come that day. Messy Church works best if at least 4-5 families are there, so there are enough people for games etc. So please would let us know if you hope to come on November 16th? If we find that the number of positive replies is low we may decide to cancel this date and postpone the session for another occasion. Thanks! love from the Messy Church team.

Here are a few pictures from our Harvest Messy Church last Saturday. We made a new mural, thanking God for our food, as well as some laminated placemats, and we enjoyed the rhyme/song "Oats and beans and barley grow". We had a story about how God provided food for the Hebrew people in the desert and finally Rev Pauline Nixon showed us that harvest-time veg can remind us of ourselves!....Some have “eyes” (potatoes!) some have ears (sweet-corn cobs!) some are hands (bananas!) and some have a heart (Any guesses, for this one? The answer’s at the bottom here) Let’s thank God for all these things!
Now 2 new dates for your diaries:
There will be a family-friendly all-age harvest festival celebration at The Church Centre, Woodborough Road 10am on Sunday October 6th. You might like to bring a harvest gift of a tinned goods that would go to the food bank.
Our next Messy Church will be on Saturday November 16th 2.30-4pm. Hope you can make it!
(veg with a heart is a cabbage😉)

Make some time over the holiday weekend to think about what the festival of Easter is all about! You can do this by following the Easter Story Trail around Winscombe village with your children at any time over the Easter weekend.
Children at the local schools have already heard about this 1 mile self-guided trail around Winscombe
Head to the starting point at 1 Well Close, next to the bowling club to find the map and instructions. You’ll need a smart-phone with a data allowance with you, and have fun finding the 5 clues, and watching the video clips together
The story of the first Easter is told in 5 short animated Lego video clips, from the point of view of 5 characters in the story.

We are thankful for every family who joined us on Saturday to make a joyful, vibrant and inspiring Messy Church. We’re planning 2 sessions in the Autumn: Saturday September 21st and Saturday November 9th. So we hope you will be able to join us again then, and perhaps also some of our friends might want to come and have fun at Messy Church in Winscombe too. If you missed us this time you’ll find a link to one of our songs below and there are a few pictures from our afternoon. As it was Mother’s Day the next day we were thinking about our Mums, our families, and people who love us and we remembered we are ALL in our Father God’s family. Our song says “Jesus taught us how to be a family…loving one another with the love that He gives”!
