Ringing a quarter peel for Ron

In the afternoon of Sunday 4th August the bells of St Mary Magdalene, North Ockendon will be ringing a quarter peal lasting about 45 minutes to celebrate the life of a dear ringing friend, Ron Brown.

Ron celebrated his 100th birthday last month and we rang a peal to honour that, but sadly he passed away 11 days after. Ron used to ring at Bentley Common and was a great supporter of our band here at North Ockendon in the early years, helping us to progress by coming over every Monday evening to our practice night. He has taught many current ringers in the Brentwood area and beyond and will be sorely missed. RIP Ron.
