This week in Chasing the Wind, Solomon reminds us of a truth that is both humbling and freeing:

“God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.” (Ecclesiastes 7:29)

So often we look for our own solutions, our own shortcuts, and our own way forward. Yet the more we rely on ourselves, the more restless and complicated life becomes.

The good news of the gospel is that we do not need to scheme our way into God’s favour. Through Jesus Christ, God has made a way for us to be reconciled to Him, and through the Holy Spirit He continues to guide, convict, comfort, and transform us.

Instead of striving to build our own kingdom, we are invited to rest in His grace and trust His wisdom.

This week in Ecclesiastes, Solomon reminds us how easily we look to money, possessions, and security to give us peace.

Yet the more we chase them, the more restless we become.

True contentment is not found in having more, but in recognising God’s hand in the ordinary gifts of daily life.

Every good thing we have is received, not earned.

When we stop placing our hope in temporary things and instead trust the One who provides them, we begin to find real peace.

This week in Ecclesiastes, Solomon reminds us that we were never meant to walk through life alone.

In a world marked by isolation, exhaustion, and striving, God calls us into community.

We need people who will walk beside us, encourage us, pray for us, and help lift us when we fall.

The Gospel reminds us that we are not abandoned. In Christ, we are welcomed into the family of God and invited to walk together in faith, hope, and grace.

This week in Ecclesiastes, we are reminded that time is not random.

Every season, whether joyful or difficult, has a purpose in God’s plan.

The longing we feel for something more is not an accident. It is eternity placed within us, pointing us back to Him.

We find peace not by controlling time, but by trusting the One who holds it.

This week in Ecclesiastes, Solomon continues his search for meaning.

He looks for satisfaction in wisdom, in pleasure, and in work. Yet none of them can carry the weight of the soul.

“There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God.”
Ecclesiastes 2:24

True joy is not something we achieve. It is something we receive.

The simple gifts of daily life—a meal, a drink, honest work, rest—are not small things. They are reminders of God’s goodness.

We stop chasing the wind when we open our hands and receive life as a gift from Him.

This Sunday we began our new series in Ecclesiastes: Chasing the Wind.

Solomon had wisdom, wealth, power, and pleasure yet still found himself asking the same question:

What is the gain?

“I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
Ecclesiastes 1:14

Life lived without God becomes a closed loop
always searching, never satisfied.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that this world was never meant to be enough.

The things we chase cannot hold the weight of eternity.

Only Christ can.

He is the greater Solomon the One who stepped into our v***r, broke the cycle of death, and is making all things new.

On the road to Emmaus, everything changed.

What began in confusion and sorrow ended in joy and certainty.

“The Lord has risen indeed…”
Luke 24:34

When the disciples recognised Jesus, they could not stay where they were.
They turned back at once to share the good news.

The resurrection changes everything.
It turns despair into hope,
confusion into clarity,
and fear into joy.

Because Jesus is alive, we too are called to go and share the good news.

Good Friday reminds us that the cross was not an accident.

It was a rescue.

Jesus endured the cross willingly.
Not out of obligation, but out of love.
Not in defeat, but in victory.

“For the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross…”
Hebrews 12:2

Today we pause and remember the cost of our salvation and the love that led Jesus to the cross.
