Dear Friends,

What a day! Long story short... the fleche (spikey bit on top of the roof at church) has blown down. It was dangerous and alarming. Someone suggested calling the Fire-brigade after two emergency appeals for contractors to help from our architect failed. The Fire-brigade were fantastic and worked hard with a massive cherry-picker to get the debris off the roof whilst me, the clergy, churchwardens and Glyn were temporarily banned from the church while they completed the work.

The result is that the car park must not be used until we are sure all the debris from that side of the roof has gone. It is closed off. Similarly there is debris on the hall side of the roof and access along my driveway to the top door is forbidden by the Fire-brigade. Access to the hall will be via church and the main hall door will remain closed.

Let's hope and pray that we all continue to remain safe. Let's remember the Fire-brigade and the work they do, and let's give thanks for Damien who went out on to the very top of the roof to pick up bits of wood and fibreglass. We're still good for All Saints' Day tomorrow at 10.45 with bringing and sharing afterwards but please remember you can't use the car park.
