The Power of Obedience.

Text: Deuteronomy 5:33 (NASB)

“You shall walk entirely in the way which the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you will possess.”

In the context of this devotional, Obedience is simply doing the right thing at the right time as expected or commanded by God. You have been raised for such a time as this, and obedience is the power you need to execute your divine assignment.

When God called Abram in Genesis 12:1-3, he departed immediately, not knowing where he was going. Many are waiting to have all the answers before they will obey God. Someone said, “It may have been a short journey, but disobedience can stretch it into years.” A life that will make impact must be ready to obey the Lord quickly and without reservations. Genesis 12:4 NLT says, “So Abram departed as the LORD had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.”

What is God asking you to do that you are still thinking about two or three years later? Obedience is powerful, and disobedience also has consequences. In Jeremiah 1:4-5 NIV, the Bible says, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” There is an assignment for you to accomplish on God’s behalf on the earth. For every instruction God has given you, there may be many others who will carry it out if you refuse to do it. When those exiles who had returned back to Jerusalem, refused to rebuild the broken down walls, God raised up Nehemiah who was born in exile and had never been to Jerusalem before (Nehemiah 6:15).

Every day you delay to obey divine instruction, you are giving the enemy an opportunity to encroach into the territory that God has given you to possess for Him. Isaiah 1:19-20 NIV says, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; 20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken." King Saul learnt about the consequences of disobedience when the kingdom was taken from him and given to another. 1 Samuel 15:22-23 NLT says, “But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”

Meditate on this: Your faith is empowered by your obedience to God’s mandate over your life. When you walk in obedience, the supernatural power of God is activated to get things done with ease. Job 36:11 NLT says, “If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant.” Prompt obedience will make you a world changer in the plan of God.

Confession:

I declare that I have been graced to obey the Lord promptly and without any delay. I repent of my past acts of disobedience to divine instruction, and I receive God’s forgiveness. Thank you Lord for helping me by your Holy Spirit, to say yes to you at all times. Never again will I be disobedient to divine instruction in Jesus name. Amen.

Overcoming The Spirit of Discouragement.

Text: Proverbs 13:12 TPT.

“When hope's dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing. But when at last your dream comes true, life's sweetness will satisfy your soul.”

No-one gets by without having to deal with discouragement. We have dreams and desires, often planted in our hearts by God, but the process of praying for them to come to pass can be painful. Discouragement weakens our resolve and can even cause us to forsake our dreams, and give up on our purpose. Overcoming discouragement is a vital way of building an enduring legacy (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Discouragement has its roots in an Hebrews word which means impatience. The fulfillment of your purpose is a process which will come with many difficulties and challenges. Learning to wait on the Lord until your purpose fully manifests is not for the faint hearted. Discouragement is dangerous. It can cause us to give up on our goals and quit our fight for fulfilment. When God called Abraham and he said yes to God and his promises, he didn’t know that it would take twenty five years for him to carry Isaac in his hands (Romans 4:20).

What has God said to you? Remember that he controls times and seasons and he is too faithful to fail you. Joseph went through so much for thirteen years after he dreamt of greatness. Even the man he helped in prison forgot about him for two full years. The Bible didn’t tell us how many years he spent in the prison, but Bible scholars believed that he became the Prime Minister in Egypt at the age of thirty. If you are looking for an opportunity to be discouraged, the enemy will freely give them to you. David was still running around even after he was ordained as a king over Israel (Genesis 41:36-46).

When you are discouraged, you lose your energy and the spark to propel yourself forward to your purpose. When Elisha was discouraged, he gave up on his divine assignment and he was promptly replaced by Elijah. God has many people waiting in the wings ready to step up to the table if you give up. Many have walked away from their faith because they were discouraged by the Church. The Church is like a hospital where people come for treatment for different ailments. In everything, always look up to Jesus, as the author and finisher of your faith (1 Kings 19:4-13).

Meditate on this: The loss of confidence and momentum that comes with discouragement makes it a destructive tool in the hands of the enemy. We must learn to look up to God in difficult times and keep going because the joy of the Lord is our strength. If you give up, you will never know the joy of finishing.

Confession:

I declare that I will not give in to discouragement because the joy of the Lord is my strength. I will trust the Lord even in the face of adversity and he will strengthen and uphold me with his right hand of righteousness. I rebuke every spirit of discouragement and embrace hope, peace and joy that comes from the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name. Amen.

Your Words Are Powerful.

Text: Genesis 2:7 NKJV.

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

The Bible says that God created man in his image and after his likeness, which means that man has the same divine power and attributes to speak things into existence. Man is the only creature that has this power and authority. This is why we must watch what we say to ourself, to others and in any given situation. Intend ways you can add value is by saying what the word of God says (Proverbs 12:14 NLT).

A Hebrew scholar once said that Genesis 2:7 could better be translated that “man became a speaking spirit.” Man was made a speaking spirit and given dominion. The power of speech was a major distinguishing factor between man and the animal kingdom. The enemy also knows the power that is in your words, and that is why he will do anything to make you say the wrong word. He is constantly putting pressure on your mouth to speak out the negative thoughts that he is bombarding your mind with.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” The Holy Spirit is the creative force behind the manifestation of our words. Your words are so powerful that even the angels have no power to change your words. The Bible says they are your messengers who have been assigned to carry out your tasks, part of which are the words you speak. This is why you must not be careless with your words or joke about with words - especially negative words.

Someone once said that your current reality is a reflection of what you’ve been saying. The only you can change this is to start saying what the word of God says about you. You cannot call yourself a loser or a victim, and win in life. Another crucial component of words are the thoughts that you allow to flow into your heart and stay there. The Bible says as a man think so is he. It also says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Proverbs 23:7, Proverbs 4:23). When you keep your heart with all diligence, you will protect what comes out of it, and keep to in line with God’s word.

Meditate on this: Job gave the devil access to his life, family and business by the way he spoke. The psalmist said in Psalm 141:3 AMP, “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips [to keep me from speaking thoughtlessly].” You create your world by your words and you can also recreate it by your words. Psalm 19:14 says, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” It’s time to surrender your thoughts and words to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to help you in speaking life into your life and situation.

Confession:

Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith, so I look to Him by believing and acting on His Word! I believe that my faith works because I believe God’s Word is true. It comes to pass and He is the rewarder of those who seek Him. I will not only hear the Word, but I will act on it by faith in Jesus name. Amen.

Don’t Try to Help God.

Text: Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Self efforts is simply trying to help God for you to get the results that you desperately need or want. God is the Almighty and He does not need anyone else’s help to get things done. As a matter of fact, He speaks with us from the point of completion of whatever He wants us to do.

When God called Abram from his community and told him to go to an undisclosed place, He had everything set in motion for the fulfilment of His purpose (Genesis 12:1-3). But along the line, Abram considered the suggestion of Sarai, his wife, as they both tried to help God. In Genesis 16:2 NIV, the Bible says, “so she said to Abram, “The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.” Abram did not question her suggestion, but simply did what she suggested.

But God would not change His mind concerning His promises to Abram. The Bible says in Genesis 21:2 NIV, “Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.” God has an appointed time for the manifestation of his promises concerning your life and you must trust Him. Everything God has said about your life will come to pass, even as you continue to trust Him. Numbers 23:19 NLT says, “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” He is ever faithful!

God created man after He had completed all that he would ever need to live on the earth as God’s representative. This is why the Bible admonished us not to depend on our strength, wisdom, resources or even connections. Zechariah 4:6 NIV says, “So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” You cannot add value to others or fulfill your purpose by your own wisdom or strength alone, but by the grace and mercy of the Lord.

Meditate on this: The Bible says in Psalm 125:1 NLT, “Those who trust in the LORD are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever.” You cannot continue to be dependent on yourself and others, and claim to be representing the Lord. Psalm 37:5 NKJV says, “Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”

Confession:

I declare that I will put my complete trust in God, and not lean on my own understanding. I will depend on the Holy Spirit to help navigate the journey of life and make decisions that will honor God and bring glory to His name. I choose to believe that God has the best plan for my life and I will walk in the fullness of it in Jesus name. Amen.

Growth is Not Optional.

Text: Ecclesiastes 10:10 NIV.

“If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.”

I saw an acronym for GROW, and it is Get Rid of Old Ways. This is not far from the truth, because you cannot grow into the new without growing out of the old. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun.”

It is not enough to know that you are born again, and with a new nature, but you must be intentional about growing into the new life that you have been redeemed into. This is why Romans 12:2 NLT says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” You must continue to grow in every way if you are to make a lasting impact.

This growth is not restricted to only the spiritual aspect, but it must also be in every aspect of your life. The Bible says in James 1:5 NKJV, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Divine Wisdom is the ability to solve problems with the help of God. You can grow in wisdom, such that you will become irreplaceable. Daniel was such a man, and by the reason of this, he was able to serve many administrations while in Babylon as a slave (Daniel 1:20).

Another area of growth that is vital to your success is the area of the supernatural. Life is spiritual, and we must operate within this realm for maximum impact. The Holy Spirit has been given to us as believers in order for us to be able to exercise dominion. You cannot dominate the natural realm without the supernatural power of God. The supernatural will help you to accelerate your results by the power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 NIV says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Meditate on this: Witnesses are like billboards announcing what is happening or coming attractions. God has equipped and enabled you to make a difference in your world on his behalf. You must also grow in the knowledge of who you are. Psalm 139:14 NIV says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” It is time to show up and make a difference in Jesus name. Amen.

Confession:

I declare that I am committed to growth in every area of my life. I have the wisdom of God to continue to be relevant in the plan of God for my generation. As from today, I will be more intentional about my spiritual and personal development, and God will help me to be more productive in every undertaking in Jesus name. Amen!

Your Mistake Don’t Define You.

Text: Psalm 103:12 NIV.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us".

Many people are disqualified from being able to add value to their world due to the standard of perfection set by others. It is often said that the best doctors are those who have been patients. You are prepared and equipped to minister to those who are going through what you have been through.

When Moses saw an Israelites being maltreated by an Egyptian, his intervention led to the death of the Egyptian. When Pharaoh heard what happened, Moses was very afraid to come face to face with the king, and instead, he became a fugitive. Despite his mistake, God did not give up on Moses. In Exodus 3:1-4 ESV, the Bible says, “Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the wmountain of God. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him aout of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Despite all the excuses that Moses came up with, God restored him to his original assignment. Many have walked away from their divine assignment due to their past mistakes, but God has promised restoration to those who repent in humility. I believe that God used those years at the back end of the desert as a shepherd to teach Moses about patience and humility. The Bible says in Numbers 12:3 NKJV, “(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.” How did that happen? God had worked on him behind the scenes, and he was now ready to move forward into his purpose.

It was Aaron who became the spokesman for Moses, that led the Israelites into dancing before the golden calf (Exodus 7:1, Exodus 32:1-25) Yet, when God was looking for a high priest who will enter into the Holy of holies, He chose Aaron. If it was today, there would have been many online stories about him not being qualified to play such a deeply spiritual role. The Bible says in Exodus 28:1 ESV, “Then bring near to you Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron's sons, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.”

Meditate on this: Those who have made mistakes are able to be selfless in their service to others because they know how much God has forgiven them. They are also able to share their experiences with others who may be struggling with the same issues. God is able to write a great story out of your mistakes and shortcomings.

Confession:

I declare that my past does not define my future. I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus from my past mistakes and experiences. I am a new creation in Christ, and I am living and walking in the reality of the grace and mercy of God. I will give birth to all the promises of God tied to His assignment for my life, in Jesus name. Amen.

Develop Your Capacity For Impact.

Text: Ecclesiastes 10:10 AMP.

“If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength; but wisdom [to sharpen the axe] helps him succeed [with less effort].”

You cannot become a person who adds value to others, and make their lives more valuable, without developing your capacity. Capacity development is a vital ingredient in the pursuit of sustainable development and sustainable impacts. There is nothing that the enemy can do to stop someone who is committed to continuous capacity development. You cannot lose your relevance if you are committed to continuous learning and growth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Capacity-building is defined as the process of developing and strengthening the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that organizations and an individual has. You cannot give what you do not have. God allowed Moses to be raised in Pharaoh’s palace so he could get access to the best of education, yet he knew he was not an Egyptian. His mindset and thought patterns were different from the slave mentality of the Israelites. He would not have been able to play the roles of a leader and a deliverer without the knowledge he had (Acts 7:22, Proverbs 18:15).

A critical look at Joseph’s life, also supports this as well. He was a supervisor of his brothers even from a very young age. When he was forcefully sold into slavery, he became the administrator of Potiphar’s household. I believe he must have learnt how to manage it through education, observation and also through divine inspiration. Today, many have discarded the importance of education, but when you are educated, you will run things differently. Joseph stood out in his generation! (Ecclesiastes 7:19, Proverbs 4:13).

When Joseph was sent to prison, he was also put in charge! If you know the Egyptian’s roles in civilization, you will agree with me that he would have been trained to do that job exceptionally well. The skills he acquired in the prison system came handy when he was able to provide an administrative solution to the looming economic crisis. How prepared are you for the opportunities you’ve been praying and believing for? God’s people are destroyed due to a lack of knowledge, because it takes knowledge for you to know what to do per time (1 John 2:20 & 27).

Meditate on this: God’s plan is for you to be on top in your field or industry, but are you developing your capacity and capabilities, or you are simply just going through the motions? Someone said, “if your mind is not updated, your life will be outdated.” I believe you are not old, until you stop learning and growing. Be committed to learning and growing through books, seminars, workshops and other resources that will help your growth, and bring you into the presence of greatness (Romans 8:19).

Confession:

I decree and declare according to God’s word that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I am committed to learning and growing in my relationship with God and in every area of my life also. I believe there is a place for me at the top, and God has arranged events for the manifestation of his plans and purpose for my life. I will not be stuck in the journey of life due to ignorance or lack of knowledge in Jesus name. Amen.

April 13th, 2026.

Be Intentional With Your Life.

Text: Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

There are many people who are busy, but they are busy at doing nothing. The way you spend your time, is the way you spend your life. In this new season you must be intentional about being productive and progressive with your life. Don’t waste the life that God has given you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Both the rich and the poor, the achievers and non achievers, all have the same 24 hours each day, but what they do with their time determines the outcome of their lives. You cannot be sleeping when you are supposed to be working, and then complain that your life is not working. The Bible says that faith without work is dead. Stop deceiving yourself by not being responsible for the outcome of your life and putting the blame on God or other people (Ephesians 5:15-17).

It’s said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing the same way and expecting a different result. God cannot be mocked, whatsoever a man sows, that shall he reap also. From the scriptures, we have discovered that God has a part to play in your life, but until you play your part, God is not committed. Are you committed to playing your part, or you are prepared to keep making excuses for the direction of your life? (2 Chronicles 20:20).

There are so many things that can waste your time and break your focus from being productive. The telephone, social media and other entertainments are great time wasters. Even though they can still be useful tools, but they are what I call the weapons of mass distraction. Learning to plan your days ahead while allowing God to interrupt you if he has to, is a great way to stay productive and impactful (2 Chronicles 15:7).

Meditate on this: Paul said, “This one thing I do, forgetting those things that are behind, I press towards what lies ahead…” Those who waste time don’t count in the long term. God is calling us to a new season of redeeming the time for the days are evil. Make each day count, and your destiny will count in a unique way (Philippians 3:13-14).

Confession:

Thank you Lord for giving me the wisdom to be intentional about my life and pursue my divine assignment. I declare that I will not waste my time but invest it to pursue God and the interests of his kingdom. Holy Spirit, help me to stay connected to you and be guided by you. Thank you Father for the gift of life as I seek to please you always in Jesus name. Amen.

Stop Being a Spiritual Infant.

Text: Galatians 4:1 NLT.

“Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had.”

Every living thing has the potential for growth. The way it is with the physical growth, it is also with spiritual development. There is nothing wrong with starting from where you are, but God’s plan is for you to grow from spiritual infancy and mature into spiritual adulthood. Proverbs 4:18 NKJV says, “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”

Our text says, those who remain as babies in spiritual things are not different from slaves even though they have access to everything that was purchased by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. You cannot become a world changer if you settle as an infant. Remaining as a spiritual infant is like someone who is still being taught when they should have become tutors. God is mindful of your growth in every area of your life, and especially your spiritual growth. Hebrews 5:12 NIV says, “In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!”

The spiritual controls the physical, therefore, it must be a priority for any believer focused on making lasting kingdom impacts. Hebrews 5:13-14 NIV says, “Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” To grow spiritually, you have to change your food intake. The word of God is the spiritual food you need to grow.

Hebrews 6:1 NIV says, “Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God.” There are issues that we tend to focus on at the neglect of our spiritual growth. Until you are intentional about those spiritual practices that will lead to growth, you will never grow from where you are and what you know. God wants you to move from information to revelation even as you study or meditate on His word.

Meditate on this: 1 Peter 2:2 NLT says, “Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,.” You cannot fully taste the goodness of God when you remain spiritually immature. It is an aberration of the grace of God for any child of God to remain on the milk of the word when they were supposed to be eating the strong meat of the word of God.

Confession:

Father, help me to crave spiritual growth as a child of God. Help me to let go of those carnal desires that tries to hinder my spiritual growth. I release myself from the spirit of familiarity with you and your word. Help me to meditate on your word day and night. Take me from glory to glory, in my walk with you, in Jesus name. Amen.

Freedom From People’s Control.

Text: Galatians 5:1 ESV.

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."

Someone once said, “The greatest freedom is freedom from the opinions of others.” People will make you doubt your identity and the value you can bring to the table. When you allow your joy to be controlled what people think or say about you, you have already set yourself up for a life of misery.

The opinions of God about you are clearly written in His word, and if anyone has a problem with that, they can take it up with God. It is unfortunate that some people will never see anything good about you no matter how hard you try to change their mind. Paul asked this question in Galatians 1:10 ESV, “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” You cannot please God if you are controlled by the opinions of men.

There was a scenario that played out when David went to the war front to deliver some package to his brothers. Goliath who was the leader of the Philistines army had been threatening the Israelites army day and night for forty days. In 1 Samuel 17:28-30 ESV, the Bible says, “Now Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men. And Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, “Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your presumption and the evil of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” David did not do anything wrong, as he just wanted to see if he could help to fight Goliath, and which he eventually did.

David’s response is the way to handle the opinion of others. In 1 Samuel 17:30-31 ESV, the Bible says, “And David said, “What have I done now? Was it not but a word?” And he turned away from him toward another, and spoke bin the same way, and the people answered him again as before. When the words that David spoke were heard, they repeated them before Saul, and he sent for him.” Just like David, we must learn to turn away from those who are threatened by our presence or opinion.

Meditate on this: Those who want to make an impact on others must learn not to be controlled by the opinions of men. Trailblazers are often not appreciated by others, especially those who see themselves as not being capable of doing what the person is doing. Just would not have been able to go to the cross if He did not make himself of no reputation. It takes humility not to defend yourself in the face of false accusations (Philippians 2:4-9).

Confession:

I declare that I will not be controlled or shaped by the opinions of men but of God. I believe the truth of God’s word over the lies of the enemy to stop me from adding values to my world. Thank you Lord for the grace to hold on to your word even in difficult situations. Help me to navigate every moment by the help of your Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen.
