What a lovely day at the Bric a Brac and Book sale yesterday! Many thanks to Alison, all the helpers and all those who came to support St Peter's. The sun shone and we could all enjoy tea, cake and fellowship.

Last night, many people gathered in the churchyard with special glasses, colanders, cards, cereal boxes, all prepared to watch the eclipse. Excitement grew as the light dimmed and gradually the sun was almost totally obscured. It was wonderful to watch this unique event in such a beautiful setting.

At a joint service with friends from St Werburgh's yesterday, we celebrated Lammas Sunday and afterwards enjoyed a delicious freshly baked loaf, thank you Raoul! Lammas is a traditionally a time to give thanks for the first fruits of the wheat harvest.

The summer holidays are here! It's a time when many children and young people leave or change school, bringing a range of emotions with new challenges ahead and farewells to friends and teachers.

Yesterday morning, we were delighted to welcome two Year1 classes each of 30 children from Oughtrington Primary School, to St Peter's church. They were learning about the ceremony of baptism and had a good look round the church. All the children were well-behaved and we hope they had a memorable visit! peter's
