We are the Dominican Sisters of St Catherine of Siena, Newcastle, Natal in England, founded by Mother Rose Niland OP in 1896.
“Make the preaching of the Good News your life’s work” (2 Timothy 4.5) Our Mother House is Rosary Priory, Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire, which is why we are known as the “Bushey” Dominican Sisters in England. In South Africa, our Region House is in Boksburg. Our Sisters mini

ster in England, South Africa, and Rome. We are passionate about our call to follow Jesus Christ and share His mission in the Church. Through contemplative prayer and reflective study, our minds are open to truth, which compels us to go out and preach God’s love in today’s needy world. We firmly believe Jesus is still calling women to the joyous vocation in the consecrated life and to our Congregation of Dominican Sisters. We invite women (aged 18 – 35) who wish to explore the meaning of life and how God is calling them to join us for Come and See opportunities. We offer a six-month period of accompaniment and discernment. This is the official page of the Newcastle Dominican Sisters in England, and a source of information and point of contact for women and men who want to know more about the Dominican Charism and vocations to Consecrated Life.

“The brothers and sisters of the Order of Preachers renew our unwavering commitment to the cause of peace. In a world torn by conflict and division, the Order will continue to labor for reconciliation led by Pope Leo XIV and to advance dialogue guided by the light of truth and the Gospel. Let us never tire of proclaiming the peace of the Risen Christ together.”

2 February, Feast of the Presentation in the Temple

We were blessed to receive two Postulants at Rosary Priory: Anna Trang and Maria Hoa took the next step in their journey to become Dominican Sisters in our Congregation. We thank God for their faith, courage and generosity.

May God who has begun this good work in them, Himself bring it to perfection.

Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine, pray for them!

And in London, a number of Sisters attended the Mass for Religious at Westminster Cathedral to celebrate World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, with Cardinal Vincent Nichols, keeping the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.

Our Novices, Sister Thuy, Sister Tam, and Sister Nguyet, together with now-Postulant Anna Trang, are pictured here at the offertory procession.

And two more of us heading towards Cathedral Hall.

A joyous occasion - we thank God for the incredbily wonderful gift of Dominican Religious Life as Newcastle Dominican Sisters!
