Over Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur, I was blessed to be able to address more than 6000 people in 15 prayer services across five communities: Mill Hill, Magen Avot, Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, Hendon United Synagogue - Raleigh Close and Kinloss. It was wonderful to witness a return to such communal vitality and excellence after the challenges of the pandemic.

Hendon Cares - our fantastic pastoral care run by members of our shul would like to invite the children of our community to decorate and write a card to some of our older members wishing them a Happy Chanukah. This project is aimed at children in Primary School but older or younger can most definitely get involved. Please email [email protected] to put your name on the list. Each child will receive 3-4 cards to decorate and write.

A statement from our President, Michael Goldstein, on the passing of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks:

"There are no words. How can I adequately express what Rabbi Sacks means to me, my family, my community, my organisation and the Jewish people?

A man who was the living embodiment of the carefully chosen word, the perfect turn of phrase. I am hurting. He was a rabbi and a leader, a father and a grandfather. He was a teacher of us all.

The world is a darker place right now. A flame of Torah has gone out. But the Torah Rabbi Sacks taught us will continue to be taught across the world for generations to come and will endure forever.

To Lady Elaine, to their three children, to Rabbi Sacks’ three brothers and the entire family, on behalf of everyone connected with the United Synagogue, I wish you all Chayim aruchim, long life."
