WHY DONT WE HAVE FEMALE PROPHETESS IN ISLAM?...
Well, before answering this question, first let's see what is like to be a Prophet in Islam.
A Prophet in Islam is the one who is sent to a nation to convey the Message of God, guide his nation, warn them against evil and give glad tidings to those who do good.
Its always a tough job to stand against falsehood, injustice and speak the words of truth. At various times in the history of the Prophets, people attack their Prophets and Messengers viciously and even kill other Prophets.
Prophet Yusif was thrown in jail to languish there. Prophet Ibrahim was thrown in a blazing furnace, but God saved him. Prophet Noah beaten mercilessly, scorned at in public and thrown into a head of garbage dumpster. Our Holy Prophet Mohammad was attacked, stoned at and insulted by his own people and eventually expelled from his birthplace.
Now imagine a woman in the above situation. How hard would that be for her to go through these trials and tribulations?. No doubt, a woman can be physically strong, but a woman is always emotionally weak. Mind you before Islam in Mecca women were treated as the most disgusted creatures on earth. They are seen as property and subjugated as merchandise.
Secondly a woman is always looked at as a symbol of beauty, and at times she might have to sit with men for deliberation. So therefore if she is a Prophet, she must teach people the prostration, sujud and rukuh, so clearly these might cause fitnah between the two genders. If she is a Prophet she must lead people in prayers and other functions of prayers. But due to her mensural cycles, she will not be able to carry these functions of the office of prophethood.
But all these doesn't mean that a woman is not honored in Islam. The most distinguished women in Islam like Maryam the mother of Jesus, Khadijah, Aisha, Fatima, Umm Salama...and the list goes on. From the aforementioned reasons and many more, a woman cannot function effectively as a Prophet in the house of Islam. Allah has elevated women to be Princesses par excellence in Islam....
