St. Mary's Church, Walthamstow A diverse, inclusive and creative Christian community learning the way of Jesus and growing in love. Walthamstow's ancient church.

Cafe + Play Area + Exhibition Space + Churchyard. St Mary’s Walthamstow is a diverse, inclusive and creative Christian community learning the way of Jesus and growing in love. We are a member of the Inclusive Church Network and work for the Common Good as a founding member of Waltham Forest Citizens, our local chapter of Citizens UK. We meet in our ancient building – a place where people have gath

ered for over 900 years to pray, worship, learn, reflect and take action. And in early 2023, our building will be open in the day, during the week - home to an Exhibition Space and Froth & Rind café. Whatever your background, and wherever you are on the journey of faith, we invite you to join us for any of our weekly services (Sundays at 9am and 10.30am, Wednesdays at 7.30pm and Morning Prayer on weekdays at 8.30am). We are part of the Church of England, the Diocese of Chelmsford and the worldwide Anglican Communion. You are always welcome at St Mary’s.

Join us later this month in Walthamstow’s ancient church for a thought-provoking weekend of climate films. We’ll start with the ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ () on Thursday 25th June at 7pm – a film featuring contributions from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and the UK’s leading scientific, energy and national security experts. The film will be preceded by ‘Direct Action’ – a short climate drama from local filmmaker Tor Kristoffersen – and will be followed by a panel discussion. The event will feature a card-only bar and will end around 9pm.

And then on Saturday 27th June at 7pm, join us for ‘Power Station’ by Walthamstow filmmakers and activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn. This documentary follows the attempts by Hilary and Dan to turn their Walthamstow street into an energy-generating collection of solar-powered Power Stations – a prototype for a new way of living, with the hope of galvanising a wider push towards sustainable alternatives. We will run a card-only bar on the night and will have a conversation with the filmmakers after the screening.

To book a ticket to either event, visit stmaryswalthamstow.org/climatefilms, click the link in our Instagram bio, or click the link in the Facebook comments.

We apologise that Morning Prayer could not be live-streamed today due to internet connectivity issues. We tried using a mobile hotspot, but the connection was unfortunately too unstable. We are looking into the problem and hope to be back online for Morning Prayer tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding.
