God’s fatherhood is progressively revealed in scripture. The Bible starts with a creator keen on estate management and order. He creates a private island on His vast estate and fills it with all sorts. He’s so impressed with his creation that He decides that a manager with enough authority to maintain his island is required. He creates Adam and gives him instructions concerning what he may and may not do.((Genesis 2:)) Now and then He visits for a conversation. But that’s it.

It isn’t long till God has to appreciate the depth of His emotional connection to His creation. Adam does what he’s not meant to do. He is sacked from his privileged position and faces expulsion from the island. But God wouldn’t let Adam leave the island as Adam had lived in the Island – naked. God makes a sacrifice to cover Adam’s honour.((Genesis 3: 21))

A shift had occurred, but not so a metamorphosis. God wouldn’t regard anyone in a filial sense till Exodus. Adam is an employee and Noah a partner.

God’s fatherhood is progressively revealed in scripture.

Can A Man Be Bigger Than His Helper?

The War of the Sexes is a call to rethink how Scripture shapes women’s roles. It proposes a transition from traditional patriarchal views, to a reinterpretation of her role as 'ezer' - a strong complement to men.
