Eid is a gift - a reminder that Allah's mercy does not wait for the world to be worthy of it. We receive that gift this year, as every year, holding joy and grief in the same hands.
Gaza. Sudan. Masjid Al-Aqsa - its sanctity besieged. These are not distant concerns. They are ours.
But grief and gratitude are not opposites. Eid is also a promise - that oppression does not have the final word, and that joy is itself an act of resistance. Let the spirit of Ramadan carry us forward - its discipline, its devotion, its reminder of what we are striving for.
From all of us at the Muslim Association of Britain - Eid Mubarak. May Allah accept from us, grant relief to the oppressed, and keep this Ummah united in faith and in action.
