Abu Talib was among the companions of the prophets. On the authority of Muhammad ibn Yunus, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu Abdullah (al-Sadiq, peace be upon him), who said: “O Yunus, what do people say about Abu Talib?” I said: “May I be sacrificed for you, they say he is in a shallow part of Hellfire, and on his feet are sandals of fire from which his head boils!” He, peace be upon him, said: “The enemies of God have lied! Indeed, Abu Talib was among the companions of the prophets, the truthful ones, the martyrs, and the righteous, and excellent are those as companions.” (Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 35, p. 111)
