St Barnabas Church, Downham Welcome to the St Barnabas Downham page, here you will find all that goes on at our church. Our worship is modern catholic following Common Worship.

We are a lively, welcoming church located in the heart of the Downham Estate in the London Borough of Lewisham, near the borders with Bromley. We are part of the Catford (Southend) and Downham Team Ministry in the Diocese of Southwark. Our main service is a Sung Mass on Sunday mornings at 9.30 a.m. with Junior Church and followed by refreshments in the adjacent Church Hall. Other services are held

throughout the week and the church is usually open on Friday and Saturday mornings, providing a quiet space for prayer and reflection. We seek to serve our local community and show the love of God to everyone.

On Sunday we said goodbye to Fr Stuart as he retires after 14 years at St Barnabas.

Since arriving in May 2012, Fr Stuart has been at the heart of our church and community, sharing in so many important moments of our lives – baptisms, weddings, funerals, celebrations, challenges and everything in between. His kindness, support, guidance and friendship have meant a great deal to so many people over the years.

We would like to thank Fr Stuart for his faithful service, dedication and care for St Barnabas and the wider community. He has helped shape our church family and leaves with our gratitude, love and prayers.

As he begins his well-earned retirement, we wish him every happiness, good health and many blessings for the future.

Thank you, Fr Stuart, for everything. You will always be a valued part of the St Barnabas family.
