NCLF AUTUMN NEWSLETTER 2022

ARE YOU AN ODOURLESS CHRISTIAN?

'Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's (hopefully) back to work we go...'

Whether you are starting a new position or returning to work, we hope you've had a fantastic summer and are gearing up for the working weeks ahead. Before we know it, we'll be getting ready for CHRISTmas!

One person who officially starts his new position on 1st September as Administrative Bishop of the New Testament Church of God (England and Wales) is Bishop Claion Grandison, and we are delighted to lead with his thought-provoking article, entitled 'Odours'.

As Christians, it's important we leave the right 'lingering odour' whenever we interact with others, isn't it? We need to create the right impact in our conversations, and you can read about some of the impact NCLF has been making recently on page 2. We have also included some events for Black History Month on page 3, and a special congratulations to Pastor Marcus Chilaka.

We also congratulate Bethel United Church on its 65th Holy Convocation and the NTCG on its 70th Anniversary.

We hope you enjoy the Newsletter.

Blessings to you

Welcome to the Summer issue of the NCLF Newsletter.
https://nclf.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/NCLF-Newsletter-Summer-2022-2.pdf

This weekend sees celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee taking place throughout the UK and the Commonwealth. It's been said that some people - especially from the African Caribbean community - may feel torn about celebrating this achievement, but I hope we can acknowledge the faithful service of one who professes Christ as her Saviour. We, of course, also look forward this month to celebrating Windrush Day and especially the events taking place on Windrush Sunday.

In this Newsletter, NCLF founder, Ade Omooba MBE, shares his heart and hopes for the NCLF and the Black community. We celebrate new appointments for Elsa Caleb and Rev Ron Nathan, and Elaine Bowes shares about a new venture by the Pentecostal Credit Union to assist millennials with their financial education. On the other end of the spectrum, sadly, we also read of disturbing events that have seen lives cut dramatically short.

In the midst of various celebrations, it's a sobering reminder that there is still much for us to do.

Please email us at [email protected] or [email protected] if you'd like to contribute or have news of events you'd like to share with us. We'd love to hear from you.

In the meantime, on behalf of the NCLF, I wish you a very happy summer.

Email us at [email protected] or [email protected] if you'd like to contribute. More details are on page 5. We'd love to hear from you.
In the meantime, we wish you a very Happy Easter season, as we celebrate our risen Saviour. to register for our upcoming seminar on 'Protecting Women and Girls'. As well as our annual plans for 2022/2023 and much much more.

REPRESENTATIVE BODY FOR

BRITAIN'S BLACK CHURCH COMMUNITY ISSUES STATEMENT ON BODY SEARCH OF CHILD Q

The NCLF, the representative body for Britain’s black Christian community, joins with other concerned citizens throughout the UK, to voice their disdain, shock, and deeply felt outrage at the awful and totally unmerited treatment meted out to Child Q, a 15-year-old black schoolgirl by her school and local police where she ought to have felt safe and dealt as a minor.

REPRESENTATIVE BODY FOR BRITAIN'S BLACK CHURCH COMMUNITY ISSUES STATEMENT ON WAR IN UKRAINE

The National Church Leaders Forum (NCLF) is saddened by the conflict in Ukraine which has resulted in the loss of human lives, caused millions of people to flee their homes, inflicted damage leading to the destruction of schools, health facilities, and impeded channels that supply food and water, amongst many other issues. All these things pose huge humanitarian challenges in Ukraine and bordering nations.
