We had a Scarecrow Competition as part of the Flower Festival and here are the 4 fantastic entries. Aren’t they fun?

**Thought of the Week ** by Rev Canon David Williams
There are so many people wandering through life with past experiences that have hurt them and influence the way they are. It could be something we experienced many years ago or something more recently. It could be parents or teachers who paid us little attention and their neglect hurts. It could be a rejection experienced by someone close or losing a job. Rejection always hurts and people can bring pain. Sometimes deliberately, sometimes randomly. So how do we deal with this and where do we turn? Retaliation can certainly have its appeal, but Jesus has a better idea.

You see, God’s grace is not blind. It sees the hurt full well and loves us for who we are, offering forgiveness and a new start. Hebrews 12:15 urges us to, “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Where grace is lacking, bitterness abounds. But where grace abounds, forgiveness grows, and this is an offer that is extended to any of us. So, if you think life is tough and you’re carrying a heavy load, Jesus is only a prayer away! Every blessing, David.

**Thought of the Week** by Rev Canon David Williams

Living in a world with its many toxic situations, how wonderful that with this week Lent breaks in, inviting us to detox, to re-centre our lives, and realign them more with what really matters!

I was reminded in our House of Prayer meeting this week of that verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14 where we read: ‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land’.

In these days of Lent, may we respond to its invitation as God in his kindness calls us to slow down and turn to him. Amidst all the deadlines and commitments in our often overcrowded calendars, comes the invitation to live more simply and focus on what lies at the heart of the Christian faith. Something that can so easily be drowned out by the noises of this world. How God loves us more than we will ever know and through Jesus comes healing, forgiveness and new life. And what was it Jesus said at the beginning of his ministry - “Repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15).

In Lent we travel on a road that leads to Easter and is not so much about having less joy (through the things we may give up) but about finding a deeper and more lasting joy! Every blessing, David.
