13th September is Holy Cross Day - at which we think about the strangeness of the symbol that is the badge of our faith!

We also turn that instrument of shame into a symbol of victory by our worship of Him who died upon it & remember that the same is possible for us too!

8:30 am Quiet Eucharist - Lady Chapel
10:30 am Parish Eucharist - Main Church.
Followed by hot and cold drinks.

Part of English Heritage's Open Days!

On Saturday 19th September church will be open all day for visitors to have a look round, explore, and hear from our wonderful speakers on their subjects.

Have a go at the crafts and activities, and the bells too!

Tea, coffee and squash availible throughout the day!

One small snapshot of a wonderful celebration, and a picture representing the tip of an iceburg at St Giles, today.

Our wardens, fellow Christians from one of the 2 churches that worship in the hall on Sundays too, our clergy (serving and retired), Deanery colleagues and Bishop Ruth - all of whom we were delighted to welcome today.

We also celebrated Jean's 100th birthday with her - which made it extra special!

Thank you to all who came, all who helped, all who prayed: as we gave thanks for all that was and is now. We remembered those who were absent today and prayed for that which is to come!

Another plug for our 70th St Giles' Day weekend!

It would be great to have you celebrate with us as we celebrate the past and look forward to the future.

We've added prosecco to the programme before the after church lunch on Sunday - some non-alcoholic options availible too.

In addition to Andy's final organ recital before his retirement on the 5th, our St Giles' Day 70th celebrations with Bishop Ruth followed by lunch, we have another 70th anniversary event!

Our St Giles' Day Open Day!
Speakers, demonstrations of the organ (and have-a-go yourselves) at the bells, and guides around the 70 year timeline of St Giles' history.
We'll have themed craft and a trail for younger folk; and tea, coffee & squash will be provided all day.

We are pleased to have been featured on English Heritages listings for this; and we are also delighted to have local and national (or, is Oswestry international?) speakers and demonstrators with connections and insight into St Giles and the Aintree community.

Come along and explore the place you've driven past; not been to for a while, or come to regularly but want to find out something new about!
