Our Open Day in September - one of our 70th anniversary events - is now live on English Heritage's Heritage Days programme.

We join some other excellent events around the country.

Please have a look, share with friends, and get some ideas for your summer holidays and beyond.

Thank you to English Heritage members, Ian & Glynis for submitting and arranging this!

It is the 70th Anniversary of St. Giles Church. A time line of those years contains many exhibits. Talks, demonstrations and activities will be included during the day.

This Sunday at 8:30 & 10:30 am we celebrate the feast of Trinity Sunday.

10:30 followed by refreshments as usual.

All welcome!

We also pray for our fellow churches in the Deanery, Holy Trinity and St Michael and All Angles Altcar, as they celebrate the news of their new Vicar, Rev'd Kath Cooke, from the Diocese of Oxford.

This Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost!

Quiet Eucharist at 8:30 am in the Lady Chapel
Sung Eucharist at 10:30 in the main church; followed by refreshments.

This feast (or between the Ascension and Pentecost) ends the Easter celebrations - in the church year & we begin to move towards thinking about growth (symbolised by green).

But for anything to grow, it needs some heat! Pentecost is where the Holy Spirit that Jesus had promised his disciples inspired them to tell people of every language and country about his good news! This is depicted as a dove or as tongues of fire.
So, on Sunday we'll be wearing red, and asking God to stir up the Holy Spirit we have within us - saying "Come Holy Spirit, and kindle in us the fire of your love!".

After the 10:30 am service, we will also be reading some wedding banns, interring the ashes of Ian Thomson, and holding our annual church meeting to elect new officers and PCC members to help run the church. Please come and hear about what we've been up to this year!

This Sunday is the 7th Sunday of Easter - or the first after the Ascension!

Our worship is at 8:30 am in the Lady Chapel for our Quiet Eucharist and 10:30 am for our Sung Parish Eucharist followed by refreshments.

At 3pm until 6:30 pm we have a social - one of our 70th anniversary events - alongside one of our dance groups who use the hall - who will be demonstrating popular dances from the 1950's when church was built - and letting us have a go too.

The bar will be open, there will be tea and coffee available throughout, and there will be some sandwiches and cake about halfway through.

It is £12 on the door, unless you already have a ticket.

Why not come and celebrate with us?
