In the past God selected one man to represent His people Israel. This has changed in the New Testament as all believers can come to God without a priest. Still, there are lessons we can learn from this situation in the Old Testament.

When the ancient nation of Israel was travelling from Egypt to Canaan (through the desert) God introduced a public announcement system to advise when they should recommence travelling or stop and rest. The population was possibly over two million so accurate communication was key to avoid chaos.

The ancient nation of Israel enjoyed many privileges. One of those was that Jehovah promised to be with them, to guide and protect them. Historically God used various symbols to remind them of principles and truths. A physical cloud was the symbol of God’s presence.

Jesus Revealed - in the blood that speaks of Christ in Numbers

An ancient Israel the blood of a sacrifice was a very significant thing. This is strange to us in the modern world and yet the Bible uses the sheddibg of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (ie His death) to remind us that he gave His life, shed his blood and as a result provides salvation for those who repent and believe in Him.

Jesus Revealed - In the location of the Tabernacle

Jesus Revealed – Stephen Baker

When the nation of Israel set up camp (they were a nomadic nation at this stage in their history) they were given a site plan and were expected to follow it precisely. Reading Numbers chapter 1 we discover that the 'tent of meeting', the place where God promised to meet with them, was right in the centre of this Tent City (the population of the city was probably around 2,000,000). There is a simple lesson in this - God needs to be in the centre of our lives if we want to be healthy, well balanced people. Listen as Stephen explains how this pictures the central place that Jesus Christ should have in every Christian's life.

Jesus Revealed In the Day of Atonement

The ancient religious practices of Israel were designed by God to bring his people into relationship with him and to remind them that God’s purposes and plans would always come to fulfilment. The annual Feasts of Jehovah are a system of festivals that clearly present the program of God, both for Israel and ultimately for the world through his son Jesus Christ. Listen to discover more.

Death is not the end of life!

https://youtube.com/shorts/eAFq7GzN25c?feature=share

Life is about more than the physical world round about you. At birth, you became a living soul, created for a relationship with God. However, sin—defined as self-centered living, ignorance, disrespect for the Creator, and wrongful actions—has damaged that connection. To restore this relationship, God sent His Son, Jesus, offering a path back to Him. Through Jesus, forgiveness, salvation, new life, and peace with God are possible. The Bible clearly states, "The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world" (1 John 4:14).
