A really lovely and special deanery confirmation service with Bishop Geoff Pearson at St Stephen’s Church in Hightown this evening. Rev Simon has had the absolute privilege of preparing our 5 candidates over this last couple of months and then of presenting them to be confirmed at the service, and our prayers are with them as they’ve taken this step on their faith journey!

BOILER & FABRIC FUND APPEAL

As many will know, we have been without heating in the church here for a few months due to a broken down boiler that is beyond viable repair. We have been working hard to rectify this situation, going through the necessary Church of England permissions procedures for the installation of a suitable replacement boiler, and identifying suitable contractors and obtaining quotes. This is now all complete and we are nearly ready for work to start!

However, this is going to cost around £35,000!! Thanks to some incredibly generous donations, we have £23,000 of this in place and so we are looking to raise the rest. We are also aware of other expensive works that will be needed on the stonework of the church building over the next couple of years, likely to cost over £25,000.

Please do consider whether you can contribute towards raising the funds needed for this vital work! Any donations would be very gratefully received, thank you. Please click here for details on how you can contribute:

We really are very grateful to Andrew Roughley Independent Funeral Directors. At a recent funeral, they realised that we currently only had one suitable portable access ramp that fitted the 2 steps that need to be negotiated to get in to the church, 1 into the porch and then 1 in to the church. So they saw us moving it quickly from one step to the other for wheelchair users to gain access. Without us knowing they sourced a 2nd equivalent ramp and arrived to give it to us as a complete surprise yesterday. Here’s Andrew & Rev Simon checking it out in situ 😀.
