We fear showing who we really are.
Because if we hide we can’t be rejected right?
If we fit in, if we don’t make waves, if we’re just like everyone else we can’t be rejected.
But I gotta tell you, you might of already noticed, God didn’t make you to fit in.
God made you wonderfully, marvellously, spectacularly weird.
God made you nothing like anyone else you’ve ever met and it’s brilliant.
You’ve got to learn to love yourself.
Let go of this insecurity.
Jesus said:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? (Matt 6:25-26)
There’s no need to be insecure.
You already have value.
You were born with it.
There is nothing you can do that would change that.
You already have value.
You don’t need to pretend to be someone you’re not.
You don’t need to hide parts of yourself.
Lucy Knight wrote
If we truly believe that each of us is fearfully and wonderfully made then we have to learn to see ourselves and others as God sees us.”
When we can do that we can let go of our fear and insecurity and I think a lot of our problems start to melt away.
See the value in yourself.
Recognise yourself as a child of God.
And start treating yourself accordingly.
God didn’t make you to fit in.
He made you to be you.
He made you weird.
