Our Kol Nidre appeal for 2024 will be supporting the US/UJIA’s project to rebuild the kindergarten on Kibbutz Be’eri (which was destroyed on October 7th), our local Care Home, Nightingale Hammerson, Magen David Adom and our own community.

We spent a great afternoon making our own bagels which turned out crispy and delicious. Recipe in the photos if you want to have a go at making some yourself.

Our Chef extraordinaire Fred treated us to a samosa workshop yesterday evening, where we rolled and filled samosas before frying them. As an extra treat we also shared a vegetarian curry with rice and some exotic Indian fruits.

We enjoyed a wonderful quiz last night in aid of Kingston Cheder and JLGB. The atmosphere and food were amazing. A huge thanks to all the organisers who had worked so hard.

The world seems very dark right now. Help bring more light into the world by doing an act of kindness this weekend. We've put two dozen ideas on our website (www.theus.org.uk/weekend) but you're welcome to do your own. Some are Shabbat-friendly, others can be done on Friday and Sunday. Why not post a photo on social media of you in action to inspire others using the hashtags ?

We had a great time making vegetable bhaji’s. We ate some of them together in a communal meal and there were plenty left over to take home.

It was Ivor's 95th birthday on Sunday which we celebrated with him in style yesterday at the Food for Thought lunch and presented him with a delicious cake.

We had a wonderful barbecue on Sunday raising money in aid of our cheder. About 50 people attended enjoying a tasty selection of food, cooling drinks on a hot afternoon and a raffle with a great array of prizes. A brilliant time was had by everyone of all ages.
