On Sunday we celebrated Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit came like wind and fire, filling ordinary people with courage, hope, and new life.
During the service we reflected on how God’s Spirit still meets us in the middle of ordinary life: in our fears, questions, hopes, and weariness, not to condemn us, but to strengthen and encourage us for the journey ahead.
We began with a rather unexpected song choice, thinking about how the light of Christ placed within us can be fanned into flame by the Holy Spirit, so that we may shine with love, hope, and compassion in the world around us, a bit like a firework!
There was also an opportunity for prayer and anointing with oil — a quiet reminder that God still comes close to ordinary people with grace, healing, and peace.
A joyful and hope-filled celebration of the Spirit who continues to renew the Church and breathe life into the world.
“Come, Holy Spirit.”

Last weeks sermon looked at the scripture “Do not let your hearts be troubled.”
we reflected on Jesus’ promise that in the Father’s house there are many dwelling places — a vision not of exclusion, but of spacious belonging.
Drawing on John 14 and the witness of Stephen in Acts 7, we explored how so much of human anxiety comes from the fear of not belonging, and how the Gospel speaks a deeper truth: that in Christ there is room for us all.
Beginning with This Is Me from The Greatest Showman, we were reminded that God’s love does not push people to the margins, but welcomes, restores, and makes space. Even in a troubled world, we are invited to trust that we are held within a love wider than our fears — and called to create communities where others can know: “There is space for you here.”
