ON THE MORNING OF SATURDAY 25TH JULY, CHILDREN FROM THE SYRO-MALABAR COMMUNITY WILL CELEBRATE THEIR FIRST HOLY COMMUNION.

PLEASE KEEP IN YOUR PRAYERS ALL THESE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GROW IN THE LOVE OF GOD AND HIS HOLY CHURCH.

PARISH SAFEGUARDING REPRESENTATIVE - There is currently a vacancy for a Parish Safeguarding Representative and we would welcome anybody who is interested in the role to speak to Fr Paul, Fr Peter, or one of the current safeguarding representatives. The role involves processing DBS checks, keeping in touch with the Diocesan Safeguarding Office and ensuring relevant people have safeguarding training. It doesn’t involve a large time commitment and is supported by the full time Safeguarding Team.

Intermediate Group - (Year 7 Secondary School and Year 6 Primary School) will meet this Monday 1st June from 6.30pm to 8pm in the old Parish Centre (Pre-School). Topic: “Pentecost and the beginning of the Church” and “The History of the Parish”.

Senior Group - (Year 8 and above at Secondary School) will be meeting after their exams on Monday 22nd June from 6.30pm-8pm in the Presbytery, when, with the newly-confirmed, whom they have invited to their meeting, they will discuss “Confirmation as a new beginning”.

SPECIAL NOTICE FROM THE INTERMEDIATE YOUTH GROUP FOR YEARS 5 AND 6
The Intermediate Youth Group invite all those at present in Years 5 and 6 at Primary School to join them at their meeting on Monday 29th June from 6.30pm to 8pm in the old Parish Centre (pre-school). If you are interested in coming to this meeting and joining the group, can you see Fr. Peter after the 6pm or 10am weekend Masses.

ARMED FORCES DAY - A great response was received in respect of donations of toys and games which will be sold at the Armed Forces Day event on Saturday 27th June in the Recreation Ground. The money raised will go to Medicins sans Frontiers, an organisation that offers help to people affected by conflict and natural disasters. MSF have medical staff and other people who manage these difficult times. Is there anyone in the parish who has a van or a large car who could help that morning for an hour or so to transport some of the larger items to the recreation ground, this would be very much appreciated. Hospital admissions - A reminder that if you (or a family member) are admitted to hospital, you need to ask that your record indicates you are a Roman Catholic if you would like a visit from the Chaplaincy team or to receive Holy Communion. Hospital staff may forget to ask you about your religious background and due to data regulations, the Chaplaincy team cannot approach you - unless your religion is on your admission record.

SWANLEY & DISTRICT FOODBANK - Treasurer and Secretary Needed! - Can you spend a few hours of your time to help out at the Swanley and District Foodbank? If so, we are looking for a TREASURER (including a small amount of payroll work monthly) and a SECRETARY with experience of note taking at meetings if possible. We are a small group of Trustees who oversee and assist the Foodbank in its day to running, but of course every organisation needs those skilled in monetary and secretarial skills to keep the paperwork straight!! These posts would not be onerous, we generally meet every 2-3 months, but the payroll is done monthly. Don't let your skills go to waste! No experience? No problem! Full training will be provided at your own pace, and it’s a great opportunity to meet people, be part of our caring community, and make a real difference. If you’d like to get involved: Pop into the Centre during opening hours for a look around. Days of Refection at Sanctuary Quiet Garden in May 2026 - two opportunities are offered in May, both dates have the same programme - but are on different days and times to suit different needs: Monday May 18th 9.30am to 12.30pm - for those who might have childcare or other responsibilities at the weekends
Or Saturday May 30th from 11am-3pm. The theme is “Spirit of God”. Come and spend some time in quiet prayer and reflection in nature - inspired by the Holy Spirit through the beauty of creation.

NEXT SUNDAY THERE WILL BE A SECOND COLLECTION FOR THE CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK. THIS COLLECTION SUPPORTS THE MEDIA OFFICE OF THE BISHOPS’ CONFERENCE OF ENGLAND AND WALES.

PICNIC LUNCH SATURDAY 16TH MAY 12.30pm - Instead of a Prayer Breakfast this term, Churches Together have decided to hold another Bring Your Own picnic lunch at The Old Vicarage, School Lane, Swanley Village, BR8 7PJ during the Thy Kingdom Come time leading up to Pentecost. Children and well-behaved dogs welcome too. Barbara will offer tea/coffee, soft drinks and biscuits/tea-bread and there will be a short time of prayer but please bring your own picnic! Tables and chairs available in the garden.

HOLIDAY AT HOME PLANNING MEETNG - The meeting will be on Wednesday 20th May at 7.30pm at Hextable Methodist Church. If you are able to help for our days on Wednesday 12th August (setting up day) and the event on Thursday 13th August but unable to attend the meeting, please email

Hospital admissions - A reminder that if you (or a family member) are admitted to hospital, you need to ask that your record indicates you are a Roman Catholic if you would like a visit from the Chaplaincy team or to receive Holy Communion. Hospital staff may forget to ask you about your religious background and due to data regulations, the Chaplaincy team cannot approach you - unless your religion is on your admission record.

YOUTH GROUP MEETINGS
Intermediate Group - (Year 7 Secondary School and Year 6 Primary School) will meet this Monday 11th May from 6.30pm to 8pm in the old Parish Centre (Pre-School). Topic: “Ascension, Mary and the month of May”.
Senior Group - (Year 8 and above at Secondary School) will not meet now until Monday 22nd June from
6.30pm-8pm in the Presbytery. However, members of the Group will attend the Confirmation Class on Thursday 21st May to talk to the candidates and invite them to join the meeting on 22nd June and discuss “Confirmation as a new beginning”.

WANTED - Toys and board games that you no longer need. These will be sold at the Armed Forces Day event on 27th June in the Recreation Ground. The money raised will go to Medicins sans Frontiers, an organisation that offers help to people affected by conflict and natural disasters. MSF have medical staff and other people who manage these difficult times. Could you please let Graham Withers from Hope Community Church have any contributions to this good cause by the end of May, so the toys and games can be checked and sorted. SWANLEY & DISTRICT FOODBANK - Treasurer and Secretary Needed! - Can you spend a few hours of your time to help out at the Swanley and District Foodbank? If so, we are looking for a TREASURER (including a small amount of payroll work monthly) and a SECRETARY with experience of note taking at meetings if possible. We are a small group of Trustees who oversee and assist the Foodbank in its day to running, but of course every organisation needs those skilled in monetary and secretarial skills to keep the paperwork straight!! These posts would not be onerous, we generally meet every 2-3 months, but the payroll is done monthly. Don't let your skills go to waste! SWANLEY THERAPY CENTRE (S.U.M.S) - Volunteer Call-Out! - We’re looking for 4 friendly, reliable volunteers to help out at Swanley Therapy Centre on Wednesdays from 9.00am to 11am, Wednesdays from 12.30pm-2.30pm, Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm-8.30pm and Thursdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. No experience? No problem! Full training will be provided at your own pace, and it’s a great opportunity to meet people, be part of our caring community, and make a real difference. If you’d like to get involved: Pop into the Centre during opening hours for a look around.
