What is your recipe for Christianity?

I wonder if those who started the early church - Peter, John, James etc - were to visit the “modern” church, would they nod their heads in acknowledgement or shake their heads in shame and dismay.

I’m a chef, so I use chef examples to help my thinking. A while back a famous British Chef, posted a clip of him cooking rice and peas, and chicken. He was verbally slaughtered by the West Indian community. I Wonder if he had even tasted the dish he was trying to reproduce. I also saw very qualified chef’s adding sweet chilli sauce and coriander to a traditional fish cake and calling it a Thai fish cake. Instead of going to the source of Thai food and look at what and how they actually cook, they decided there experience with food qualified them to translate traditional dishes.

As a modern day Christian - Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Charismatic, Mormon, Pentecostal, Seven Day Adventist, does our versions of Christianity marry harmoniously with the early Church. Do we need to re-examine our traditions and ,as Paul says 2 Corinthians, to see if we are in the faith.

J Warner Wallace - author of Cold Case Christianity - where an atheist cold case detective uses his detective skills to investigate the authenticity of the Gospels and then becomes a Christian, says in his book concerning the difference between “belief that and belief in”, about a detective who comes face to face with a criminal who shoots at him while he wears a bullet proof vest and survives. “It’s one thing to believe that the vest can save a life; it’s another thing to trust in it to save your life.” where are you, do you believe that bible is God’s word or do you believe in the bible as the source of your salvation?

On our Gateway Facebook we will be looking at historical and scientific evidence that proves the validity of the bible, so that we can “believe in” the bible as the only source of salvation. Keep a look out and share please.

In memory of a great warrior for God. An inspiration to many. Her faith was Legendary - many of us where greatly inspired by her life and testimonies. We do not have to say "rest in peace", because we know you've gone home to glory. Until we meet again. We can only hope that we could make the kind of impact you did in the lives of others.
