Another sad and devastating loss for the Deaf Community in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire…our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Praying for his family at this so so sad time.
May they be held in the strong arms of God 🙏🙏🙏

We are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and untimely death of Marcos Pinto. Marcos died at home yesterday afternoon at the age of 48.

A much-loved member of the Peterborough Deaf, Portuguese and wider local community, Marcos will be sorely missed. He made friends wherever he went and, as someone recently said, whenever he walked through the city he was constantly greeted by people who knew him.

An instantly recognisable figure, Marcos’ smile, warmth and larger-than-life presence have left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Over the years, Marcos was a familiar and much-loved face at CDA events. He also made a huge contribution through sport, playing for the Deaf Raptors basketball team and as a dependable, no-nonsense defender for Peterborough United’s deaf football and futsal teams.

Marcos was known for encouraging younger players and leading by example. His commitment to keeping fit and continuing to compete into his 40s was something many admired, long after others had hung up their boots.

Our thoughts, love and support are with his partner, children, mother and the whole of his family at this incredibly difficult time.

We’re also thinking of his close-knit group of deaf friends who, as recently as Sunday, were all together watching the World Cup final. It is impossible to imagine that just a few days later they would be mourning the loss of someone who meant so much to them.

Marcos will be greatly missed, but he will be remembered with enormous affection by everyone whose lives he touched.
