This morning we celebrated 150 years of worship at St Stephens, Hounslow. Currently the church is paused for regular services but today a huge congregation raised the roof in celebration. Now it’s time to start looking forward to what 2027 may bring.

In less than 3 years, the original "iron church" became too small and a campaign to raise funds for the building of St Stephen's Church began. On Tuesday 9 November 1875 a service was held as the memorial (foundation) stone was laid. At 8.00pm in the evening, it must have been a rather dark service!

As we celebrate 150 years of St Stephen's Church, did you know that the church began slightly earlier in 1872 when an "iron church" was built on the Whitton Road in Hounslow? The site later became the Parish Rooms or Church Hall and is now the British Legion club.
