Starting off Care Home open week/ World Cup week this morning with a lovely tea and chat session.

These are little reminiscence sessions, focusing on sharing memories and experiences throughout our lives.

This morning had a community and World Cup theme. We spoke about why community is important too us and different community events we have attended throughout our lives. As well as reminiscing on the football days and thinking about who we are supporting in the World Cup.

All of our different memories are up on display on the notice board for this week!

This afternoon we played a variety of brain games, surrounding the World Cup theme as well!

Overall a lovely day!

Meanwhile the residents were painting country flags for the World Cup.

Today the cedars was Jampacked!
This morning was manicure morning.
A lot of our ladies will have treated themselves to the hair dresser or nails throughout their life, and so it’s important that we continue to implement that best we can! The ladies enjoy expressing themselves through there nail colours.

This afternoon we started off with a game of bingo, our winners are pictures with there winning grids.

Before moving on to some baking, we have made a selection of cakes which we are going to decorate for tomorrow for mornings activity so keep your eyes pealed,

CARE HOME OPEN WEEK.

next week is national care home open week. The Cedars will be taking part. There will be a range of open activities to get involved in.

See the information on the events below!!

We will be running:
Community coffee morning- 10:30am
Monday 15th June.

Activity demonstration session- Thursday 18th 10:30 am.

World Cup themed family quiz-
Friday 19th June 2pm.

If you can come along to any of those activities please feel free, it’s great for our residents to feel involved in the local community.

We will also be running a scheduled walk around the home, for those who register there interested with us. This is an opportunity to see the facilities around the home, this is a great opportunity for the wider community to see if the home is a good fit for there loved ones.

What an absolutely lovely day.
This morning we got moving with some armchair basketball and balloon tennis.
Lots of laughs and fun!

Billy joined me for a little walk into town and a coffee, great to get some fresh air!

This afternoon we became little florists creating flower art arrangements for the residents rooms, to allow them to have some fresh flowers in there rooms for a few days. Some absolutely gorgeous results.

We are also all ready for the start of the World Cup here! All decorated ready for the fun to begin.

We were really lucky to be joined by the incredible No Tier Snooker today at the Cedars.

The team showed us lots of snooker memorabilia from the years, jogging lots of our memories, and allowing us to see some more of the trophy’s with our own eyes.

No tier snooker aim to bring together individuals affected by dementia to enjoy something they love together. Which is really special.

It was lovely for our residents to get a little glimpse into the world of snooker today and all of our residents got a lovely signed picture to take to the room.

This morning was a resident Trip out morning. One morning a week, I make it a priority to get a resident out into the community. To get some fresh air, a coffee, and maybe pick out something they like from the local charity shop.

This morning Isabelle came along for her turn, she had a lovely coffee and picked herself out a china Tea set to take back home.

All residents will get an opportunity to come on a resident trip out morning over the coming weeks.

Today has been jam packed with fun.
We are celebrating lovely Billy’s birthday today. So we started of the day with some brain games and then making billy some birthday cards while he was out and about enjoying himself!

This afternoon we had a crafting station,
We are focusing on a different country every week to influence an activity. This week we are looking at Italy. Italy is famous for its Mosaic art, so we’ve been working on some mosaics/ collage art that’s up on our display on our notice board if you want to check it out.

We finished the day with the sweets trolley, so the residents could pick themselves out a nice treat.
