The 10th Annual Sri Lankan Muslim Educational Excellence Awards was successfully held on Saturday, 17 January 2026, celebrating a decade of academic excellence and outstanding achievements within the Sri Lankan Muslim community in the UK.
Organised by the Education & Community Development Sub-Committee (EdCom) of the Sri Lankan Muslim Cultural Centre UK (SLMCC-UK), the event brought together nearly 400 attendees, including award recipients, parents, community leaders, sponsors, and distinguished guests.
The programme commenced with Qirโath by Akeel Arshad and translation by Anshath Ashker, followed by a welcome address from Mr Ikram Ilyas, President of EdCom-SLMCC, who emphasised that education is not only about qualifications, but also about character, responsibility, and leadership.

The keynote speakers highlighted the importance of parental support, unity within the diaspora, and the Islamic value of knowledge as a sacred trust (amanah).
๐ถ The evening was enriched with nasheed performances by Maryam Imran, Khadeejah Shafraz, and Jibreel Nafaiz. The awards ceremony was hosted by Hassan and Hussain, popularly known as the Tarbiyah Twins, adding a warm and engaging atmosphere to the evening.

Since 2013, the Educational Excellence Awards have recognised achievements from 11+ to PhD level, inspiring future generations to excel while staying rooted in strong values.
