Good morning from our corner of East Lothian. Our children and young people have returned to school, so we have been enjoying summer weather. Once again though, the heat wave further south and the wildfires breaking out in so many areas of the UK, have passed us by. Our thoughts go out to those who have been affected by these events.

There is great excitement at St Adrian's this week because work has begun on our Centenary Project - as the first picture shows. After what seems like years of discussion, our extension is really happening.

St Adrian's Church, Gullane

On Sunday 30th August at 3 pm, we are going to be holding a time of blessing and thanksgiving for our pets in St Adrian's garden. All creatures, great and small, with any number of legs (or none) are welcome, or bring a photo of precious animal companions. We would love to see them.

Good morning from a rather dull East Lothian. It's been quite warm compared to our usual August weather, but many of us have been caught out by some sudden squally rain showers - for which we are very grateful.

Here is a photo of Simon, our Rector, blessing a new bench for our garden last Sunday. It has been placed in our memorial garden as a gift in memory of Christina and Craigie Dougan.

You will see in this week's announcements that work on our extension has now begun. The contractors are hoping to keep disruption to a minimum, but be aware that our garden may no longer be as peaceful as it usually is.

Good morning from a changeable East Lothian. We have been having rain, but also warm sunshine in our corner of the world, which is going to be very busy this week as we welcome visitors to the Fringe by the Sea Festival in North Berwick as well as the final day of our own Gullane Games Week.

Today we are delighted to welcome Simon, our Rector, home from his holiday. After this morning's service he will be blessing a new bench for our garden, gifted by the family of Christina Dougan in her memory.

Good morning from a dry East Lothian. The elves have been working hard this week, keeping our garden watered. They are also enjoying seeing our visitors who come to admire their work and appreciate the peace of our surroundings.

We welcome Bishop Alan Abernethy this week and next, as he stands in for our Rector, Simon. We hope Simon and his family enjoy their well deserved break.

Good morning from a warm East Lothian. It's nice to see summer returning, although we sympathise with our friends and families enduring the oppressive heat elsewhere.

We will be reflecting on the work of The Mission to Seafarers at our service on Sunday 12th July. There will be a retirng collection for the Mission to Seafarers after the service.

The life of seafarers can be far from idyllic, with many international seafarers regularly completing long term voyages which leave them isolated from friends, family and loved ones for up to nine months at a time. For others it is a career of choice which enables them to provide a better life for their families at home and is worth the sacrifice of time away from them.
The Mission was set up to provide vital help and support to seafarers as they undertake their essential work. Without their service, we would see our economy crumble and our way of life evaporate.
Offering practical and emotional support and spiritual guidance when asked, to all seafarers regardless of nationality, faith or no faith, The Mission to Seafarers aims to provide as much help as possible to international seafarers through their representation at over 200 sea ports across 50 different countries.
