Today is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven.
The Assumption reminds us that our true home is with God. In every trial and uncertainty, Mary points us towards the hope of heaven. From her place in glory, she watches over us with a mother's love, bringing comfort and reassurance. Trusting in her care, we continue our journey with confidence, knowing that Christ is leading us towards eternal life.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, who reminds us that true discipleship is rooted in self-giving love. His willingness to endure suffering sprang from complete trust in Christ and a desire to serve others. We may never face such sacrifice, but we are called each day to offer compassion and generosity to those in need. By putting others before ourselves, we become witnesses to the Gospel and bearers of God's hope.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

We pray that all the faithful of our Diocese will experience a moment of transfiguration, where they see Christ's glory revealed. May this revelation inspire them to bring the Good News of Christ's life, death and resurrection to everyone they meet. Amen.

At 10am on Wednesday, all our Lourdes pilgrims will gather for Mass at the Grotto. It is a great privilege to be able to celebrate Mass in this holy place where Our Lady appeared and St Bernadette knelt to pray the Rosary with her.

Let us pray that we, like St Bernadette, we may be open to everything that Our Lord, through Our Lady of Lourdes, may ask of us.

Scenes from Sunday in Lourdes, where pilgrims joined the International Mass, at which Archbishop Richard was a concelebrant, spent time together in hotel groups during the day and participated in the evening Marian Torchlight Procession. Ave Maria!

Pilgrims gathered today for photographs, to pass through the Grotto and for the Opening Mass, with the blessing of hands.

Today, hundreds of people from our Diocese, including hundreds of Redshirts, Purpleshirts, young Helpers and young Pilgrims, are on the move! By plane, by train, by coach, by car, by Jumbulance, they are all on pilgrimage to the southern French town of Lourdes. They carry with them prayers and intentions for our whole community.

Let us pray for those travelling and those staying at home but with the Lourdes Pilgrimage in their hearts, that we will all be blessed by this holy time.

Mary Magdalen, first witness of the Resurrection, help us to stay faithful to Christ in times of difficulty. Teach us to follow your example to keep praying with trust and to share the good news that Christ is always alongside us. Amen.
