Best wishes and safe travels to all Prometheus Consort members travelling to Canterbury for our three-day residency at Canterbury Cathedral! Music over the three days will include composers such as Noble, Murrill, Bob Chilcott and Benjamin Britten, as well as the choir’s Artistic Director Thomas Mottershead, who has composed a piece specially for St. Anselm’s Day (today), a prominent theologian and philosopher who lived from 1033/34 to 1109 - and former Archbishop of Canterbury. We also welcome Assistant Director of Music at Llandaff Cathedral, Aaron Shilson, on the organ over the few days.

We are also thinking of everybody around the world who is saddened by the news of, and mourning, the passing of Pope Francis this morning. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

A massive thank you to everybody who took part at our weekend residency at Gloucester Cathedral! The weekend included music by Edgar Day, Herbert Sumsion (former organist at the Cathedral), Orlando Gibbons, Gioachino Rossini and Edgar Bainton.

We are now looking forward to next year for our first residency of 2025 - three days at Canterbury Cathedral!

We are greatly looking forward to singing services at the beautiful Gloucester Cathedral over the weekend of 24-25th August - in exactly one month’s time! Repertoire for the weekend will include music by Orlando Gibbons, Adrian Batten, Herbert Sumsion, Edgar Bainton, Gioachino Rossini, Philip Wilby and more!

We are greatly looking forward to singing at our first weekend of 2024 - we are making the trip up to Lichfield Cathedral for three services over the next couple of days. The repertoire will include music by Tomkins, Schubert, Brewer, Daley and Chilcott.

Well, that’s not a bad way to end 2023…! Congratulations to everyone who came to sing with Prometheus Consort for our very successful weekend at St Paul's Cathedral. Many thanks particularly to Assistant Conductor, Celeste Hexter, and to our trio of organists - William Saunders, Jonathan Vaughn and Martin Ford.

ONE MONTH TO GO!

We are delighted to be singing services at St Paul's Cathedral over the New Year’s Eve weekend (Saturday 30th-Sunday 31st December). Music will include anthems and responses by living composers (such as Will Todd), as well as a mass by Josef Rheinberger.

Many thanks to all of our amazing choir members who came to Guildford Cathedral to sing three services over the course of the weekend. Particular thanks must go to the fantastic Aaron Shilson, Assistant Director of Music at Llandaff Cathedral, who accompanied the choir and played some excellent voluntaries. Thank you also to the Cathedral and all the staff for hosting us - finally the sun came out at the end!

We are very excited to be singing next at St. Paul’s Cathedral on the New Year’s Eve weekend. For now, get home safe everyone!
