Congratulations to the staff and pupils from St Margaret's RC Primary School - Galashiels for their great work.

Congratulations to pupils at St Margaret’s Primary, Galashiels, who have won second prize in the Bishops' Conference of Scotland national Design a Garden competition.

Their fantastic project includes a wildlife pond, bug hotel, hedgehog house, sustainable planting and rainwater harvesting — a wonderful example of caring for our common home.

The Season of Creation runs from 1 September to 4 October, and this Saturday the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland hosts the Season of Creation Conference in Glasgow, with keynote speaker Lorna Gold, Executive Director of the Laudato Si’ Movement, plus practical workshops for parishes, schools and communities. 🌿

Thinking about becoming Catholic? ✝️

We will be starting this year’s RCIA classes in September.

RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, a journey over several months where you can learn more about the Catholic faith, what it means to live as a Catholic, and the graces and gifts that come with it.

It’s a chance to ask questions, explore the Faith, and discover whether becoming Catholic is right for you. There is absolutely no obligation or commitment to continue through the process.

For those who decide to enter the Church, at Easter you may receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist, marking the wonderful milestone of becoming Catholic.

Did you miss this beautiful celebration?

On Friday, we gathered in the ruins of Melrose Abbey to celebrate the 890th anniversary of the foundation of this historic Cistercian abbey with Holy Mass.

This highlight video gives a glimpse of the beauty and joy we all experienced together on this very special occasion.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped organise this wonderful event, and to all who took part.

The Lord was with us last night at Melrose Abbey ✝️

This year marks the 890th anniversary of the foundation of Melrose Abbey, one of Scotland’s most treasured Christian sites.

Last night, we celebrated the first public Catholic Mass in this historic Cistercian abbey in 40 years, the last being on June 8th 1986.

It was a beautiful celebration, with the parish coming together in faith and worship.

We were also honoured to be joined by members and leaders of other Christian denominations, as well as local political figures.

Christianity is experiencing a revival in Scotland and across the world, and last night was a wonderful example of that renewal.

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event possible, and to everyone who joined us in worshipping Christ.

May the Lord continue to bless Melrose, Scotland, and all those who seek Him ✝️

Where to park in Melrose?

There are several locations available for parking throughout Melrose, including designated car parks and on-street parking, which clergy, guests and attendees for Holy Mass are welcome to use. Parking at all is free from 5pm.

We would recommend that where possible all clergy, guests and attendees use the designated car parks in the first instance.

Note: Please enter Melrose Abbey via Cloisters Road.
