And so it begins . . .. Sincere thanks to all the volunteers who helped to get the tree in and up, arranged greenery and flowers, led crafts for the children, decorated the tree, provided refreshments and got us ready for Christmas. Carol Service is tomorrow at 3.30pm.

MAJOR GENERAL THOMAS ANTHONY BOAM, CB CBE (14 February 1932-20 November 2023), RIP. Funeral is on Wednesday 13 December at 2.30pm. Rest eternal grant unto Tony, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

The Fittleworth Festive Fun evening on Friday, organised by the Friends of St Mary's Fittleworth was very enjoyable, as we sampled stollen, Christmas cake, pork pie, brie, ham and more, washed down with Bucks Fizz and cream liqueur. Toni, the Manager of the Fittleworth Stores, shown here with her very brainy team, was the overall winner of the food quiz. We had a sing-song, too. Thank you to everyone who supported. We raised around £500 for maintenance and repairs to our beautiful Church. And massive thanks to the Friends Committee for their heroic efforts in acquiring and preparing the samples we tasted.

This was my 2023 Remembrance Sunday video sermon, a little under six minutes. I talk about the three Fittleworth soldiers who are laid to rest in Commonwealth War Graves in the churchyard: Arthur Aylwin (Royal Sussex Regiment, lived 1892-1916), Frank Holden (Royal Sussex Voolunteers/Sussex Yeomanry/Royal Sussex Regiment, lived 1879-1919) and Douglas Tulett (131 Forestry Company, Royal Engineers, lived 1920-1943). With thanks to my friend Phil Stringer, a CWG volunteer, for invaluable research. We will remember them.
