It will be great to see as many of you as possible. We would love it if you could share at the meeting how the Filling Station has impacted your life.

Wes is the Director of the Acorn Christian Healing Foundation, a national ministry encouraging and equipping the church to embrace and exercise the Healing Ministry of Jesus. He is married to Mary and they have three children and nine grandchildren.

The Filling Station is a new informal way of expressing the Christian faith. Using monthly celebration meetings we find that the local church is strengthened and helped in many ways.

The Filling Station is not a new church denomination, rather, a group of Christians who are celebrating their faith in God in an informal and authentic fashion. Do come and join us at one of our meetings

How are you feeling?
No one can deny the past 18months has been a strange and challenging time for us all. Have you felt the presence of God upholding and supporting you or has God become a bit distant as you struggle with a new normality?
God longs to be a life giving force in all our lives and when we are weak his power and strength can break through to re-energize us and enable us to be his hands and feet, to serve others and see heaven come to earth.
Farnham Filling Station meets monthly to offer praise and worship to God; to listen to a person of faith who feels God has put something on their heart to share with us all; to hear stories of how God is seen working in our lives through testimony, thus encouraging others to persevere in searching out for God and seeing God in the everyday AND to pray together; to welcome afresh the Holy Spirit into our hearts so that we may be empowered to fulfil the work and purpose that God has for each of us. To pray for others, so that the Holy Spirit may heal and inspire and comfort those in need of his gentle touch and life giving spirit.
Come and join us – everyone is welcome!
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Ps 133v1)
We meet on 3rd Friday of the month (excluding Dec/Jan/Feb & August)
venue: St Andrew’s church, Farnham, which is big and airy!
7.30pm Refreshments and chat
8 – 9.30pm Worship through music, word and prayer.
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31)

As you know we are not meeting at the moment because of Covid-19.
Here are some ideas of things you could do on Good Friday

THE GOOD FRIDAY WALK OF WITNESS
Usually on Good Friday we join with others to walk behind a cross through the streets of Farnham. This year we can’t walk outside, but we can still walk inside our homes - to remind ourselves and any with whom we live of the hope we have in Christ.
Here are some suggested prayers to say around your home. At the end you are invited to place a cross in your window. It can be a picture of a cross, you can draw it or it could be a solid cross made of wood or anything you may have at home.
**********************************************************************************************
Let us be still
Lord, today we remember that you died on the cross.

You endured pain to show that love triumphs and that resurrection life is waiting around the corner for all of us.

Today as we stay indoors we invite you afresh into our homes and lives.
Bless all who live here and help us know your light, your peace and your love.

Let’s move through our homes and pause to pray at different places….
AT THE FRONT DOOR
• Lord, please bless all who come and go through this door.
• Protect us when we leave and may we find your welcome on our return.
• We look forward to the time when we can welcome others into our home again.

IN THE LIVING ROOM
• Please bless all who share this room.
• May this be a place of harmony and laughter and relaxation.
• Bless how we connect with one another - whether face to face, on the phone or through the internet.
• May there be peace here in times of solitude.

WHERE WE WORK
• Please bless the work that we do in this place.
• Please bless our creativity, our study and our play.
• May whatever we do bring blessing to others, fulfilment to ourselves and
honour to you.

IN THE KITCHEN
• Thank you for your provision.
• Help us to trust you for our needs and to respect the needs of others.
• Please bless the hands that prepare our meals. May they be prepared with love and received with thanks.

WHERE WE EAT
• Thank you that you welcome us to your table.
• May we welcome you at ours
• May you satisfy our deepest hunger.
• Help us to be generous to those around us both inside and outside our home.

WHERE WE SLEEP
• Thank you for our shelter.
• Please grant us deep rest as we sleep.
• Please be present in our dreams
• May we awake with eagerness.

WHERE ANY CHILDREN SLEEP
• Thank you that Jesus said: ‘Let the little children come to me’
• Please keep our children in your love, protect them from danger and bring them safely into each new day.

IN THE BATHROOM
• You have told us that if we confess our sins, you forgive us and cleanse us from everything we've done wrong.
• Today of all days we remember that you made this possible by dying on the cross.
• So we say sorry for the wrong things we have done.
• We receive your forgiveness.
• Thank you for washing us clean.

AT A WINDOW
• Let us go now to a place a cross in a window

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
CONCLUSION
We dedicate this house to you and we say: ‘But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.’
May the peace of Christ rest upon this house and all who live here

Forgiveness and Reconciliation talk by Sandy Clark

The evening started with a good time of worship and praise. Sandy then spoke about reconciliation and forgiveness, using as a reference the short time that she spent in Rwanda meeting both Hutu and Tutsi people. We need to forgive, but this is difficult.
Matt 19:26 – With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible
Matt 18:21-22 – forgive 77 times (i.e.always)
Luke 23:33-34 – Jesus forgives those who killed him.

Sandy also pointed out that forgiveness and reconciliation are different things. Forgiveness only needs you and God, whereas reconciliation needs both parties to be part of it.

The evening finished with an intimate time of worship and reflection, with people praying with each other and letting God speak with them.

Our next meeting is Friday 18th October.
Bart Gee will be our speaker. Bart was born with a physical disability called Arthrogryposis. Doctors said he would never walk, may never have the strength to be able to sit up and would have a bleak outlook to life - that being the limit!
However, when you pray to God that He would take control of the situation, this is God who knows no impossibility, limits are broken and miracles happen as Bart has found in his own life!

Chris Oldroyd spoke on being opportunists for God. Using 1 Cor 16:7-9 and Acts 19:1-7, 10-12 as his starting point, he pointed out how a great and effective door was opened for Paul. The Spirit of God had gone before Paul to prepare the way. Paul saw openings and took them. He took the opportunities that God had placed in front of him.

Our problem is that we don’t recognise the opportunities, or that we don’t take them. The more we take the opportunities, the easier it is for us to recognise them and take them. We grow in confidence for the next time.

How do we become opportunists for God?
*Start small.
*Move on a hunch – most of the time it is God.
*Take courage and act.

The meeting concluded with a good time of ministry with a number of people being blessed and receiving healing for ailments.

The next Filling Station is Friday 21st June.
Chris Oldroyd will be speaking.
Formerly Managing Director of a property company group and 29 year Army Reservist, Chris was ordained in 1985. Hard work turned a traditional church around resulting in its doubling in size within five years gathering a reputation as one of the diocese’s leading evangelical/charismatic churches. He started bi-monthly training and celebration events in his local town which attracted some 300 people from across the South of England where many grew in faith, spiritual gifts and ministry. He was for some time Alpha rep for the South East.
