🏆✨ What a Few Weeks! ✨🏆
Our Shahru Ramadhan Pickleball Tournament was a smashing success Alhamdulillah — full of energy, community spirit, and unforgettable rallies! 🙌🌙

We kicked things off with a qualifying round at the leisure centre just before the holy month, where teams battled it out for a spot in the main tournament. Some teams were knocked out, while others advanced — setting the stage for an epic championship!

This led to two exciting brackets during Shahru Ramadhan: the Championship Tournament and the Plate Tournament, both of which brought out incredible competition and unity. The spirit, the laughs, the sportsmanship, the cheers, the late night sehri’s, the brotherhood — it was amazing!

Huge shoutout to all the players who brought the heat after iftar, and to everyone who came out to cheer, connect, and celebrate this beautiful month through sport and unity. 💫

🎖️ Congrats to our champions!
🤝 Respect to every participant
💚 Gratitude to our volunteers and organizers

This was more than a tournament — it was a reminder of how powerful togetherness can be. Until next year, keep serving, smashing, and spreading light. 🌟

First-Ever BALLOON DEBATE at Wessex Jamaat!

What happens when a doctor, an aa’lim, a teacher, an engineer, and a farmer are stuck in a hot air balloon that’s losing altitude, and only one can stay onboard?

Answer: You get a hilarious, thought-provoking, and unforgettable evening of arguments, audience questions, and serious persuasion skills!

Alhamdulillah, our first-ever Balloon Debate was a huge success! Held during the month of Ramadhan, it brought the community together for an evening of engaging discussions.

Our brave debaters:
- Hamid Samiy – Aa’lim
- Jaffer Jaffer – Doctor
- Hasnain Nurmohamed – Teacher
- Taki Jaffer – Engineer
- Shabbir Walji – Farmer

Each made their case on why their profession is vital to society, but the final decision was in the hands of the audience!

Well done to everyone who participated, asked questions, and joined us for this amazing night.
Let’s just say… no balloons were harmed, but plenty of laughs were shared!

The aalim was the winner!

🌙 Interfaith Iftar at Al Mahdi Centre 🌙
We had the privilege of hosting an Interfaith Iftar at the Al Mahdi Centre during the blessed month of Ramadhan, bringing together friends from our local churches, Christian institutions, and representatives from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.
It was an evening of reflection, unity, and heartfelt conversations. Leaders from different faiths, including Bishop Philip Egan, Bishop Jonathan Frost, and our Resident Scholar, Shaykh Fazle Abbas Datoo, shared insightful speeches emphasizing our shared values of compassion, understanding, and harmony.
Moments like these remind us that while our faiths may differ, the essence of love, empathy, and community is universal. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to making this evening a beautiful success.
A special thank you to the Al Mahdi Centre kitchen team for the delicious iftar and to all the volunteers who made this event possible. May the spirit of unity we experienced continue to inspire us all.

BRING A FRIEND DAY 2025 during the holy month of Ramadhan!

Alhamdulillah! ✨ We had the highest turnout for Bring A Friend Day since its relaunch three years ago! 🎉

This special event gives our madrasah students a beautiful opportunity to share their Islamic faith with their friends. This year, we focused on the Holy Qur’an—why it is important to Muslims and how it shapes our lives.

The children explored this theme through art and crafts, discussions, a scavenger hunt, and an exciting Kahoot quiz! 🎨🗣️🔍🎮

More than just an event, Bring A Friend Day is about bringing people together with love and understanding in a world that often feels divided. ❤️ As a result, we’ve seen growing interest from schools, Girl Guiding, and Scout groups eager to learn more about Islam.

A huge well done to our incredible young tableegh champions—our children—who are at the heart of this initiative! 💖👏 May Allah bless their efforts and continue to spread light through them. 🌟

▶️ Run by a hardworking BAFD team with many volunteers Cordinated by Sheikh Fazle Abbas Datoo, Shahik and Rubaina Mulla.
