Passover starts tomorrow night! It commemorates the Jewish escape from Egypt, which is told over in the biblical book of Exodus.
During Passover, you have a festive meal called a βSeder.β The Seder's highlights include drinking four cups of wine, eating matzah, and telling over the story of Passover.
In addition, leavened bread isnβt eaten for the entire festival. Instead, you eat matzah, which is like a hard flat cracker. In addition to not eating bread, you also refrain from other leavened products like pasta, cookies, and cake.
There are many deep and mystical reasons for only eating matzah, but the main one is because it's a reminder that as the Jewish people were fleeing Egypt, they left in a rush and the bread they were baking that morning didn't have time to rise.
Happy Passover! π€
