Join us in a prayer for Windrush Day 🙏

Dear God of a travelling people,
you have shown that you are not confined
to one terrain of the globe –
That wherever we travel, God
We find you with us on the journey.

Sending God of the Windrush generation,
Our grandparents travelled from the West to the East
From the tropics of sun and fruit and water
to the ‘deep and crisp and even’;
Sometimes to frosty welcomes,
sometimes finding generous kindness.

Itinerant God, moving where you will,
Pillar of cloud and fire – keep our attention
Fixed on the movement of your Spirit,
Pitching where we are needed, may we bring joy and peace,
Embodying your grace in every interaction,
Witnessing to Christ, our Lord.

Faithful God, as you sustained the Windrush generation
On the violent seas of hostility or indifferent invisibility,
So sustain this succeeding generation
With sails that catch the winds of your Holy Spirit,
May we be steadied by your integrity, wisdom, truth and love
On the next leg of our journey.
Amen.

Join us this Sunday for a service on Pentecost - the day the Holy Spirit came and gave birth to the church.

It's also Aldersgate Sunday - the Sunday we celebrate our founder - John Wesley's conversion to Christ. On that day, his heart was "strangely warmed" as he realised that Jesus really did love him. But what warms your heart? The The President and Vice-President of the Methodist Conference asked that question - and here are the answers. (This is a super video - so put the sound on!).
