Volunteer opportunities
They say many hands make light work...
Do you have time this summer to spare?
Or are you looking for opportunities to get work experience?
Maybe you simply wish to support the local community?
We have a few events coming up where extra help would be great! Our vicar Becky or other volunteers would be happy to provide references for job interviews.
1. Youthwork with 10-12 year olds (volunteers would need to be under 18 due to the timescales we couldn't sort DBS in time)
July 30th 3-6pm sports on the Burrs Playinig Field
August 6th 3-6pm gardening at Brough, All Saints' Church
August 13th 3-6pm litter picking at Welton Waters Activities Centre
2. Gardening
We have some beautiful flower beds and trees Elloughton, St.Mary's Church and have annual work parties who help deal with some of the bigger challenges, however we are always grateful for help keeping on top of flower beds, weeding etc.
We are about to start a big tidy-up Brough, All Saints' Church and would also welcome help.
3. Support for regular groups
We run a coffee drop in on Thursdays from 10.45-12 and are always open to welcoming speakers or visitors. The session is free and tea, coffee, refreshments are provided. All are welcome including dogs!
We also run a youth group on Thursdays from 5.30-6.30 in term time and would be particularly open to volunteers who are Christians joining us for these sessions.
Our church hall is also looking for committee members, particularly anyone who lives nearby. The hall is on St Mary's Close St Mary's Church Hall. You do not have to be a member of the church to be involved.
4. New ideas
We are considering starting a food pantry or community larder in partnership with local supermarkets and looking for regular team of volunteers. No experience necessary. Likely to be on a Friday morning but not set up yet.
