Dear Local Care Home Friends

You are invited to PARCHE's Annual Strawberry Tea, taking place on Tuesday 14th July 2026 from 2:00pm–4:00pm (for a 2:30pm start) at Victoria Baptist Church.

The afternoon will include live music, fellowship, a moment to reflect on the good news of Jesus and of course Strawberry Tea!

📣 CARE HOME MINISTRY TRAINING SESSION 📣

Do you attend a local church in Eastbourne and surrounding areas and have a heart for older people?

PARCHE is pleased to offer the opportunity to gather together to join a live online training session hosted by our friends at Faith in Later Life , featuring Roger Hitchings from Pilgrims’ Friend Society.

🗓 Thursday 14th May 2026
📍 All Saints Church, Eastbourne

Session options:
• 1:30pm - Upstairs - All Saints Lounge
• 7:30pm - Upstairs - All Saints Lounge

Roger will join us and others nationwide via live online video link to share a short talk and option to submit questions for Q&A at the end to encourage and equip those interested in ministry among older people and care homes.

This is an informal opportunity to come along, be encouraged, and find out more about sharing the gospel with older people — no pressure or commitment involved.

It was a real joy to connect with Marion Shoard from Christians on Ageing recently. Marion kindly got in touch while looking for our founder, Buddy Reeve’s books titled '50 Worship Services for Use in Care Homes' and '50 Bible Studies for Use in Care Homes'.

This led to the opportunity to spend some time together in Eastbourne this weekend, encouraging one another as we shared about the many challenges and joys of care home ministry.

At PARCHE, we’re passionate about supporting the local church serving in this context on the ground, so it was especially encouraging to connect with someone who shares that same heart.

Marion has also written an excellent book that shines a light on these important issues titled 'How to Handle Later Life'. We’re so grateful for her wisdom, insight, and encouragement.

We had such a great time at BBTB - Bible by the Beach today! It was a privilege to hear Alexandra Huggins, CEO of Faith in Later Life, share on ‘Reaching Older People with the Good News’, a timely and encouraging seminar.

We’re so thankful for the newly formed friendship between our ministries. Their wealth of experience, resources, and training is a real gift, and we’re so thankful and excited for how this will support and strengthen our PARCHE volunteers in the months to come as they serve in care homes throughout Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.

We are also grateful for their encouragement and commendation of the work we’re doing in Eastbourne. Praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy.

What a wonderful time we had at the Eastbourne Prayer Civic Breakfast!

PARCHE was grateful to connect with local organisations, churches, and individuals via our exhibition stand. It was so encouraging to have meaningful conversations about how we can work together to better serve older people in our local community for God’s Kingdom.

We were also inspired by a powerful message from, Les Issac from Street Pastors, reminding us what it truly means to serve one another in Christ and how God uses each of us in His work.

We leave feeling encouraged and spurred on to trust the Lord, continuing His work for His glory, just as our founder, Buddy Reeve, faithfully did when she set up PARCHE - The Church in Care Homes, nearly 30 years ago!

Thank you to everyone we met and connected with, we look forward to what God will do next for His Glory.

Such a lovely day indeed!
It’s always a privilege for our PARCHE team to spend time with the lovely residents at Alice Court Care Home - Avery Collection and be part of the life of the home. We’re so grateful for the warmth and care shown, it was a joy to share the Easter service together.
