Quartz at St Johns Dumfries

Quartz at St Johns Dumfries Every service held in St Johns involves the use of artistic expression spanning thousands of years of Church history. So we go out to watch, listen, and learn.

This is a place where people who have been involved in Creative worship with St John's Episcopal church can share images and keep in touch with each other and the wider community. Some of the events we run however specifically seek to experiment with new forms of artistic expression and to embody the tradition we have received to express it in fresh and creative ways. As well as asking people to "

come and see" we also ask those within the church community to "come out and find". This active search for God at work follows the example of Jesus who was not content to rest in heaven, but instead became a human baby. Creation on a cosmic scale also being experienced dragged through the muck along with the rest of us. Then reflect on and express the experience with the people of peace we find along the way.

We exist to help people enter into their full heritage, in the company of the apostles and all our brothers and sisters, living and departed.

One of the ways we do this is to provide the opportunity to encounter and reflect on raw physical processes. Like smithing with fire.

Water, wind, fire, earth, and mind. In combination we can draw iron from rock, then shape it into things which help human life flourish. This is a theme in the song creation sings with the creator, core to the indigenous gospel adopted by the folk of these islands almost 2000 years ago.

But it will be hands on and fun, as well as poetic and mystical. Any questions, get in touch!
