Eucharistic Adoration in St Patrick’s Church, Saul
Over the winter months, from and including Tuesday 27th October, Eucharistic Adoration will be held in St Patrick’s Church Saul from 10.00am to 3.30pm. There will also be evening Adoration each Tuesday from 7.00pm to 8.00pm to facilitate those who are working. Eucharistic Adoration is an opportunity for everyone to respond to Jesus words to his disciples “Could you not watch with Me one hour”.

We are re-advertising the post of part-time Parish Support Officer - formerly called "Parish Secretary". This post will complete our Downpatrick Parish support team which currently comprises James Tumelty as assistant parish support officer and Fiona Connolly as Parish Finance Officer. It is a 16 hour/week, Monday to Thursday post. The link to the job specification and application is below.

Please don't be put off by the detail in that. At its core, what we are seeking is a person with a heart for the parish who has a warm presence on the phone, a strong instinct and respect for confidentiality, the capacity to listen with compassion, the ability to keep us organised so that we are better able to serve the people of the parish. The Parish Support Officer is the welcoming face of Downpatrick Parish and the link person between our groups, our schools, our families, our priests so that all we do together helps to build the Kingdom of God amongst us. It's not just a job, it's a vocation to serve with a smile.

Neither Fr Jim nor I will sit on the interview panel; that part will be in the care of the diocesan team. The time-line for applications is tight. Please consider this prayerfully and, if the challenge appeals to you: apply! We are convinced that the right person is out there waiting to say "yes"!

MORGAN, 19th October 2026, MARTIN (Marty), suddenly at hospital, late of Spa Nursing Home and formerly of Ardglass, beloved son of the late Eddie and Agnes Morgan and dearly loved brother of Pat and Frank and the late Anthony and Maura, a dear brother-in- law and much loved uncle.

May he rest in peace.

Funeral Service will be held in Charles Rourke & Sons’ Funeral Church, 51 Church Street, Downpatrick, BT30 6EH on Thursday 22nd October at 1.00pm, followed by interment in Struell Cemetery, Downpatrick.

Martin will be reposing in Charles Rourke & Sons’ Funeral Home, address as above, on Wednesday 21st October between 5.00pm - 7.00pm, with the family in attendance.

Very deeply regretted and will be lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family and friends.
