Holocaust Memorial Day Interfaith Remembrance Event 2026

As we mark Holocaust Memorial Day and the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau join us at the Multi Faith Centre to see the collaboratively produced 80 Candles Quilt and learn about some of those documented.

Building on the unveiling of the 80 Candles Quilt at HMD 2025, members of Derbyshire Jewish Community will be sharing the stories behind their contributions including of family histories.

There will be opportunities for prayer and reflection led by Rabbi Gili Zidkiyahu of Nottingham Liberal Synagogue.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Raj Kumar Bali MBE, Honorary Vice-President of the Multi-Faith Centre. Raj was pivotal in the concept and foundation of the centre, and much loved in the wider community.

The Multi-Faith Centre extends its deepest condolences to his family. He will be missed by us all.

It was a pleasure to support Community Arts Practitioner Laura Burrill, Every Stitch A Story with the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust 80 Candles Quilt Project and Derby Museums Quilt of Connection by providing a space to host participant workshops.
