Our mission to fill the church with poppies for Remembrance 2027 is continuing throughout the summer. You wouldn’t believe how strong plastic bottle bottoms are. It was necessary to tool up for the task of piercing them so that they can be fixed onto our poppy tree. We also received our largest poppy to date, beautifully crafted by one of our parishioners. More poppies needed, all types welcome.

“They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them”
Written in 1914 by Laurence Binyon

Help us reach our goal of filling our church with poppies by knitting, crocheting, using bottle bottoms or any other crafty way, we would love you to be a part of our community effort to remember the war dead at our Poppy Festival this November.

While some of us have been on holidays in June, other busy bees have been crafting on. Mrs Poppy Counter has a new total of 1586! We have been blown away by the people who are answering the call to help fill our church with poppies for our Poppy Festival this November and are so thankful to all who have already contributed. Each poppy lovingly made signifies remembrance of those who died to ensure the privilege of peace that we enjoy. We would love you to join us in this community project. Poppies needed of all sizes and materials. PM us or drop into church at any service or on Tuesdays 1 to 3pm to contribute.
