Following on from yesterday’s Spiritual Day, the theme today was ‘Go’ with an emphasis on the concept of ‘As you go’ in evangelising and sharing our faith. Every day God will bring opportunities our way and the prayer is ‘Lord, help me not to miss them’. We were also able to celebrate Mal’s 97th birthday with cake and what an example he is to us all.

Cwmbran Spiritual Day was a day of firsts and a day of challenge and blessing. The firsts included the first time we have had to call 999 due to an unexpected visitor and, whilst we have been joined by Pontypool for a number of years now, today we welcomed both Abergavenny and Risca as well to a real Cynefin event. The theme was 'Gospel Conversations' and led by Majors Karen & Phil Layton from Upper Norwood. The children and youth stream was led by Majors Kim & Steve Wilson and it was wonderful to meet with 50 likeminded Christians to think about Kingdom matters. Next year's event will be led by Majors Lindy & Mark Rose (Regent Hall) and the date to save in your diary is Saturday 22nd May.

For those who are attending the Cwmbran Spiritual Day on Saturday 6th June, please note that the time for arrival and refreshments is 10 am (for a 10.20 start). The day is being led by Majors Karen & Phil Layton (Corps Officers Upper Norwood) and, as he is a published author, I have asked Phil to bring some of his books should you wish to purchase them. He will certainly bring the book the theme is based on (Gospel Conversations) and I have asked him to bring a book which excellently addresses The Salvation Army's stance on the sacraments (The Sacraments and the Bible). If you would like to avail yourself of the opportunity, please bring money on the day.

Candidate’s Sunday today and the focus was on trusting God by saying ‘Yes’. This is Sophie trusting the CO to pierce a bag of water above her head. If God is calling you to be or do something remember that the best things are often on the other side of fear.
