*Singing Club on Wednesdays (from after school until 5pm) at St Luke's*

We had a wonderful week at 'Let's Sing' at the end of the school holidays.

On Wednesdays in term time, St Luke's will be running a free singing club aimed at children aged between 7 and 11, starting on 16th September 2026.

Absolutely no experience necessary, this will be in a fun, friendly and supportive environment learning both through singing and through play.
This is not a church choir - most of the repertoire will not be religious, and we will sing a wide range of music that children will enjoy.
Arrival, refreshments and games from 3.30-4pm. Singing club 4-5pm.

Walking bus available from Oasis Ryelands.

This year marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi.
Francis's vision, and response to God's call brought renewal to the medieval church, and has had a long legacy, and inspired Christians down the ages.

As our study group this term, we will be exploring what we can learn from St Francis about what it means to follow Jesus, and respond to his call today.

We will be looking at some of St Francis' own writings, and biographies written not long after his death alongside relevant texts from the Bible.

All are very welcome - Tuesday nights on zoom, and Wednesday's in person after our 10am morning Eucharist.

This Sunday at St Luke's we've got 2 special services.

At 10am we will be celebrating the new festival of Creation in Christ. It will be a joyful, all age service - and include the blessing of backpacks for the start of the new school year.

At 5pm, we will have a service of Choral Evensong.
Evensong is a beautiful traditional service, taken from the Book of Common Prayer - with space for reflection. We will sing a couple of traditional hymns, but much of the service is sung by the choir.

All are very welcome.

4-4.15pm Interactive Bible Storytelling
4.15-5pm - Freestyle Lego creations based on the story we told.

When I announced the Parish BBQ in church a few weeks ago, I was asked by one of our children, "Didn't you get the Prime Minister's message?"

With the rain of the last week, i think we are good to go ahead!
Our Parish BBQ is this Saturday 4-7pm, in the church hall on Spring Lane. You are most welcome to join us as we come together as a community at the end of summer. Great good, good company and a bouncy castle for the children.

£5 for adults, £10 for families (including no more than 2 adults)
All are welcome.

We had a wonderful celebration of our 'Let's Sing' holiday club in church today, with some bangers from Joseph! We thought about how Joseph grew up, and can inspire us to learn from our experiences, to live well, and grow in genuine love.

As schools return this week, next Sunday's 10am Eucharist will include our back to school blessing for children, young people and those who work in schools.

Bring your backpack or pencil case, or anything you want blessed for the new academic year.

What an incredible week of community music at 'Let's Sing 2026'. This week we've been exploring the story of Joseph through song, reflection and fun.

We are so thankful for the wonderful contribution of local musicians to the week, and for our director of music, Christopher Braime, who brought everyone together.

We could not have organised this week without the generosity of our congregation and amazing volunteers, and without our partnership with Oasis Academy Ryelands - who let us use the school site for the week.

When term restarts we will be running a singing club for primary school aged children, after school on Wednesdays. Watch this space for more information!

"Let love be genuine."
That's what St Paul says.
"Do not overcome evil with evil, but overcome evil with good."

This week, I've been thinking about this text, one of this Sunday's readings, as we've explored the story of Joseph through the 'Let's Sing' holiday club.

I pray that we will all find that genuine love - in our lives and relationships, and through our faith.
I pray our church will be a place where authentic Christian character is formed as we seek to love God and neighbour in Woodside.

All are welcome to our all age Parish Eucharist this Sunday at 10am. 🙏
