CCN Young Reconcilers' Gathering in Coventry 2026! A massive thank you to all those who attended from both locally and overseas, those who spread the word or sponsored places, and those who led sessions or worship at the event - we've loved spending time together over the past few days exploring what reconciliation means and how we best live its calling today, and some fantastic friendships and connections have been made!

In the ruins of Coventry Cathedral, Provost Richard Howard chose to write only these two words on the charred sanctuary wall—not “Father, forgive them,” but simply, “Father Forgive.”

It was a profound act of reconciliation.
By leaving out “them,” he refused to place blame on others alone. Instead, he acknowledged that we all share in the brokenness of our world and all stand in need of forgiveness, healing, and self-reflection.
Reconciliation begins when we move beyond pointing fingers and instead ask how we can be part of the healing. It calls us to humility, compassion, and the courage to build bridges where others see only division.

May these two simple words continue to challenge and inspire us to seek peace—not by condemning others, but by transforming ourselves and our communities.

Remember the Past, Choose Reconciliation
On Hiroshima Day, we pause to remember the lives lost, the survivors whose courage continues to inspire us, and the devastating human cost of war.

Remembrance is not only about looking back—it is about shaping the future. True peace is built through reconciliation: listening with compassion, healing broken relationships, and choosing understanding over hatred.

As we honour the memory of Hiroshima, let us renew our commitment to becoming bridge-builders in our communities and advocates for justice, peace, and human dignity.

May we learn from history so that future generations inherit a world where dialogue replaces violence and hope triumphs over fear.

In April 2024, the Diocese of Huron, Ontario, Canada became a partner in the Community of the Cross of Nails when then Dean John Whitcombe presented a cross at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in London, Ontario. One of the main focuses of reconciliation is between the church and the Indigenous community. One of the ways they do this is to partner with the Lenni Lenape Algonkian Iroquoian Council in pursuit of healing the wounds of history. The mission of the partnership includes creation care, spirituality, and maintaining relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

Minority Donor Awareness Week 💙🩸

Last month the CCN helped with a fashion at Coventry Cathedral for South Asian Heritage Month. Each person who modelled either donated an organ or received a donated organ.
This Minority Donor Awareness Week, we’re raising awareness about the urgent need for more blood, stem cell, and organ donors from ethnically diverse communities.

Patients are more likely to find a life-saving match from someone with a similar ethnic background, yet many minority communities remain underrepresented on donor registers. By registering as a donor or giving blood, you could make a life-changing difference for someone waiting for hope.

Together, we can help close the gap, save lives, and build a more equitable future in healthcare.

Our partner spotlight this week is on Abbeydale and Millhouses parish. Located three miles southwest of Sheffield City Centre, the parish welcomes anyone wherever they are on their spiritual journey. The parish is committed to reconciling humanity with God.

In Advent 2017, Abbeydale and Millhouses parish created a Bible study entitled ‘Pease on Earth — Not Just for Christmas’ that helped their members explore the peace in the world, hearts, and the church. Their buildings are offered to the public as places of peace. In Lent 2018, they raised over £2000 for the Goboka Rwanda Trust, which supports community reconciliation projects.

The CCN has a close relationship to Coventry Cathedral. The Community of the Cross of Nails grew from Coventry Cathedral’s commitment to forgiveness, reconciliation, and building peace—not through forgetting the past, but by choosing a different future.
