From a light clean of headstone and placement of fresh flowers with regular or seasonal visits, I ensure every resting place is treated with the utmost respect and care.

The Things People Never See
Most people only see the finished grave.
They don't see the bucket of water carried across the cemetery.
They don't see the weeds carefully removed by hand.
They don't see the flowers being arranged one stem at a time.
The small details matter because every grave belongs to someone who is loved and remembered.
That's why I take my time with every visit.

A Promise
I can't take away grief.
I can't replace a visit from family.
But I can make sure a grave is cared for respectfully and thoughtfully when you cannot be there yourself.
That is a promise I take seriously.

Real talk for a second…

Every week I’m out in the cemeteries, and I notice the same thing:
people often walk up to a loved one’s resting place, look around, and quietly say,
“I just want it to look nice.”

Not perfect.
Not fancy.
Just… cared for.

It always reminds me how much these places still matter, even years later.
A tidy space, fresh flowers, a clean headstone — it changes how people feel when they visit.

So I’m curious:
What’s the first thing you look at when you visit a resting place?
The flowers? The stone? The overall space?

I’d genuinely love to know.

Such a lovely poem

💭 When I had the luxury of sitting with a magazine in the hairdressers a couple of weeks ago I read an article about Sir David as part of his 100th Birthday celebration.

It mentioned his profound loss when his beloved wife Jane died in 1997.
Sir David's work provided a much needed coping strategy. His comment being,

"...in moments of grief - deep grief - the only consolation you can find is in the natural world..."

Wise words from a very wise man.

With this in mind I'd like to share this poem with you all, one which I heard at a family friend's funeral very recently. It's an adaptation of that poem by David Harkins', a wonderful poem that will continue to provide solace to so many grieving souls...

"You can shed tears that they have gone or you can smile because they have lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that they will come back or you can open your eyes and see all that they have left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see them or you can be full of the love that you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember them and only that they have gone or you can cherish their memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what they would want - smile, open your eyes, love and go on"

Yours
Karen xx

It meant a great deal to be asked to look after this resting place, especially as the request came alongside the care for their other family member. The before and after show just how much a little attention can change the feel of a space. Unfortunately it appears that the grass has not been cut for some time. it’s now neatly trimmed, refreshed, and looking great. We’re truly grateful for the trust placed in us to tend to both of their family resting places.
