Happy Sunday everyone!

Today’s service brought a reflection on Passover, delivering the message that if we want to realise our true potential as a Christian community, “we must dine on our togetherness in Christ”. If you missed it, watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/34Uktq5VuYg?si=2BlNzjxfZM3KGI24

Yesterday was our monthly coffee morning, during which we moved into the main church building (as it is getting very popular!) and raised an amazing total of £650 for charity. In a similar vein, GMC had a stall at the show earlier today in support for St James Church Buttermere Appeal, which bought 6 slates(!) for the church restoration, and raised a total of almost £750. If you are interested in learning more about this cause, please do follow the new and official page St James' Buttermere

In a couple of final notices…
-> We have a messy church service next Sunday 13th, and all are welcome for an afternoon of crafting and community!
-> There will be a volunteering fair next Saturday 12th, running 11am to 12:30pm, for anyone looking to discover more about local groups which need the support.

1 Corinthians 5:7: "Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed."

Have a good week!

We are aware that a number of news articles with varying information are being released about the incident at the Big Church Festival in West Sussex, including from the BBC:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyz52x45jxo

At this stage, we know nothing more than what is being reported by the news outlets. If we receive any more personal updates, we will keep you informed.

We understand that many people are rightly concerned about friends and family, including those from Cockermouth who are attending the festival.

UPDATE: We have heard from all three families we are aware of from Cockermouth who are all safe and well. It sounds like there are a number of prayer gatherings popping up across the campsites 🙏🏻

We hold in prayer all those at the festival. especially those directly affected and the emergency workers responding.

Happy Monday everybody!

Hope you all have had a lovely weekend, and are looking forward to a return to business as usual with the end of school holidays. Yesterday’s service was our fabulous fourth Sunday celebration of faith, which meant a more chilled out service perfect for families (and passionate crafters!). If you missed it, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/yxvtBTvJ8Zg?si=2Hi0pmARf9El4IXc

Happy Monday everybody! Hope your weekend was enjoyable, and that the rain brought a relief from the heat. ☺️

Yesterday was Christ Church’s second Sunday service, and this week brought discussion on family, and what it means to be part of a loving community which may fall apart at times, but in the end is brought back together by love and forgiveness. It takes a lot of trust in God to believe that where it may feel like we are being isolated or cast aside, in fact we are setting off on the path that will bring us to the place that will be our true home. If you missed it, watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/nT6owlxS7Io?si=JqCLHcTVFV7AgoOa

The creation of our wall of promises continues this week, with three more bricks to place! If you would like to help this wall expand, please do not hesitate to get stuck in and enjoy some colouring throughout the service.

Finally, if you are interested in becoming a pen-friend to make new connections and create a positive impact in your community, please contact

Colossians 3:13 – "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Have a blessed week! ☺️

Christ Church is part of the The Church of England's Net Zero Demonstrator Church project. As part of this, we’re exploring how to reduce the energy needed to heat our buildings. One simple step is using different‑sized spaces and choosing the right space for the size of each group or activity.

This short video explains how we’re trialling this approach.

Good evening everyone 🥰 With the weekend finishing up, here is a quick reflection!!

Today’s Christ Church service gave us all a reminder that the legacy we create today will not leave the earth when we do. Talk of climate change, and inaction as a response to fear, or overconfidence, or belief that this is god’s doing and disconnected from human wrongdoing, was challenging in all the best ways and lots of food for thought. If you missed it, you can watch it here! https://www.youtube.com/live/DCt0Nt9UX5o?si=I7fRnA0rE9OmD042

Children’s church continues in a more informal way over the summer, with tables for little kids and big kids available. We are slowly but surely creating a beautiful wall of God’s promises to us, literally ‘brick by brick’, with plenty of colour and joy — photos at the bottom! If you are looking to sit in on a service with us but also fit in some mindful colouring, this is your chance.

From Psalms 24:

The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Happy Sunday and happy August! ❤️

As the weekend comes to a close, we are faced with many upcoming changes: school holidays starting, the closing of Cockermouth's United Reform Church after 375 years, the final of the world cup tonight after England's 3rd place ranking last night, and the bittersweet departure of Robert as he moves to Manchester at the end of August.

It is crucial during times of upheaval to remember that God unites us all, and that even when life takes unexpected turns, He can be trusted above all else to take us where we need to go (even if it is not necessarily what we planned)! This morning's service reminded us that no-one and nowhere is god-forsaken, and if you missed it you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/FjPtawCiaUQ?si=0RsY24HI1p76aD0J

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.

Much love and wishing all an incredibly blessed week ahead!

As we reach the school summer holidays, a number of our activities at church will also be taking a summer break.

You may not see as many posts over the summer; however, this post will remain pinned to the top of our page as a reminder that each Sunday at Christ Church we have:
📌 8:30am – Morning Prayer (Communion on the 3rd Sunday of the month)
📌 10:00am – Morning Worship (Communion on the 3rd Sunday of the month)

🎦Our 10:00am service is also livestreamed on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/
Where services remain available to watch afterwards if you miss them or would like to watch again.

🔅Not all of our activities stop over the summer, for example, Coffee Morning will take place on 1 August.

📰Our Summer Newsletter is attached to this post and can also be viewed here:https://cockermouthareachurches.church/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/CCC_Newsletter19_July_2026_v4c.pdf
This newsletter contains details of what is happening across the church and wider town (for example Summer Football camp) during the summer months.

We pray that you all have a blessed, restful, and enjoyable summer, and we look forward to seeing you, whether online or in person, over the coming weeks.
God bless 🙏
