We keep Pope Leo XIV in our prayers

Pope Leo XIV underwent thoracic surgery at Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, as planned, according to a statement from Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora released by the Holy See Press Office.

The surgeons removed the lower lobe of the Pope’s right lung, and tissue examined during the operation confirmed the diagnosis of “lung adenocarcinoma,” as suspected from tests conducted beforehand.

The Pope was in the operating room approximately three hours, while the operation itself lasted about 90 minutes. The doctors said it was successful and there were no complications.

Pope Leo awoke normally after surgery and, following a brief period of observation, returned to his room on the hospital’s 10th floor, according to the statement.

Our Lady of Walsingham Pray for us.
The Catholic Police Guild will be conducting a pilgrimage to the shrine in Walsingham on 20 March 2027 after the succes of this years pilgrimage.

Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that as in the mystery of the Incarnation
the Blessed and ever Virgin Mary
conceived your Son in her heart
before she conceived him in the womb,
so we, your pilgrim people,
rejoicing in her motherly care,
may welcome him into our hearts
and become a holy house fit for his eternal dwelling.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

May they rest in peace

Today marks 14 years since our colleagues, PC Nicola Hughes, aged 23 and PC Fiona Bone, aged 32 were killed as they responded to a routine incident at Abbey Gardens in Hattersley shortly before 11am on Tuesday 18 September 2012.

An annual memorial will take place today within the Nicola and Fiona memorial garden at Hyde Police Station, to remember our brave officers. 💙

The Patron Saint of Parish Priests for whom we offer our prayers for.

Almighty and merciful God,
who made the Priest Saint John Vianney
wonderful in his pastoral zeal,
grant, we pray,
that through his intercession and example
we may in charity win brothers and sisters for Christ
and attain with them eternal glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

God our Father,
you filled Saint Oliver with the spirit of fortitude,
enabling him to feed your people with his word
and to lay down his life for the faith;
at his intercession
keep us strong in that same faith
and help us to proclaim it everywhere.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
