Good morning to you all. Spring feels just around the corner, actually isn't tomorrow the first day of Spring?

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Lent lunch yesterday, great food and great company. Thank you for coming out and supporting and thank you to everyone that worked so hard to serve us. It was lovely to hold it in Moorland and Fordgate Village Hall a great community resource.

And your church of St Peter and St John is also here to serve you. and as such we have started work on a new monthly newsletter called the Jewel that we have put together to share services and events in your area and across the benefice. As it grows and develops we will include more. Over the next week it will be posted through letter boxes but you can also read it herehttps://thealfredjewelbenefice.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Moorland-March-2026.pdf

We had our first Church meeting (PCC) of 2026 last evening and we talked about how wonderful Christmas was with you all.

I know I'm a bit late posting this on the 14th January but, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Christmas services so joyful and full of light. From the readers and musicians to those who decorated, welcomed, prepared, prayed, and simply showed up — your presence made our church feel alive with joy and hope.

Grateful for a community that gathers, gives, and celebrates with such heart.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made our Harvest Festival such a joyful and generous celebration of community and gratitude.

To those who cooked, served, washed up, and kept the tea flowing you were the backbone of the event, and we’re so grateful for your time, energy, and delicious contributions. The hall smelled like heaven I'm avoiding naming individuals here as there are so many that helped in different ways, I am bound to miss someone, but you know who you are, you really are a God send.

Also thank you to Gary and the hall committee for the use of the hall and for opening the bar.

A shout-out to Cllr Alan Bradford for his brilliant auctioneering skills, bringing humour, heart, and just the right amount of persuasive charm! You helped turn donated items into real support for the church, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

And to everyone who brought produce, preserves, crafts, and gifts, thank you for your generosity. Every item, every pound raised, helps us care for St Peter's and St John and keep it thriving as a place of welcome, worship, and witness.

Together as a community, we celebrated the abundance of the season, and the abundance of love in this community.

Thank you, Rev Dean
